Bow for Newbie!

Bow for Newbie!
I am thinking of maybe getting a longbow or recurve. So my question is What bow would you recommend for someone starting in the world of traditional archery? Looking for something that isn't too expensive but that still shoots good. I'm trying to get a price range so I can start saving!
Thanks

If I had it to do over, I would have bought a bow from rudderbows.com. Very affordable, and learn the basics from one of his bows. Because at first, its going to be building up muscles, and learning your form. And then when you get there, you will know other brands, and hopefully go to a trad shoot or two and shoot a few different ones before laying down hard cash.

You could keep an eye out on the classifieds at tradgang.com. Thee are some pretty good deals going on there, guys doing the same as you, buying their first bow then stepping it up to the next level and selling their first and so on...... Hell some guys just keep on buying!!!!!!

IMO, I would look into a low poundage(40-45 lbs)recurve like a Bear-Grizzly, Super Kodiak or Hunter, aWing-Red Wing Hunter or a Ben Pearson-Colt to name a fewas a starter bow. My reason for this is they are plentiful to find, relatively inexpensive, proven shootersand have stood the test of time. Stay away from shorter bows as they are more unstable to shoot for beginners as a general rule. I would recommend 58-62" AMO length
