Has anyone tried Hexshaft wooden arrows from Canada? I am new to this forum but not new to bowhunting. I have bowhunted for 35 years off and on. While I have a new compound Diamond Liberty bow, I also like to switch back to The Dark Side and use a recurve for roving and stump shooting. I was thinking of building a new set of arrows with feathers for the recurve. I found this site http://www.hexshaftarrows.com/ and the arrow shaft type was new to me. I am just looking for advice.

I have and actually prefer them to POC. They are all edge grain so you dont have to index the nocks, their hand matching is actually pretty good by the dozen, they straighten and hold shape very well, and fly great. They are spined heavy though, so if you are using say a 45 spine now, drop down 5 lbs and use a 40 Hexshaft...

I have not tried them myself, but have heard some pretty good things about them. The next set that I order though is going to be laminated birch.

I've tried laminated arrows in the past, and I'll stick with POC. I had problems keeping them straight, spine can change depending on which way the nock is turned, may not be able to taper with a hand tool, and back then the cost was high (haven't checked in a while).

I don't remember where mine came from, and things could have changed since then. I have been hearing about others using laminated shafts more recently though, and having the same problems I did, while others love them. Guess the only way to know whether you will like them or not is to give them a try.

Tried them several years ago and a few of them seperated at the glue joints. They may be improved by now.

I was going to give them a try and went on line to order a dozen, but from the Canadian source it was $27 per dozen plus $18 shipping.....OUCH! I cancelled the order and contacted the company. I ordered a heavy bird feeder with a slate roof from Canada and it cost me less than half that amount to ship. The company response was "The cost for shipping is controlled by the carrier and we are only recouping our costs. We would mention that the $18.00 covers up to $100.00 of shafts before it goes up." I will probably stick to PO cedar for now. Thanks for the advice. You guys are great!!!
