RE: I'm clueless & need help...
When you say make your own, you mean fletch your own and glue in the inserts like aluminum or carbon? Or do you mean going out to a river bank and collecting cane and cutting and sorting, and straighening, and then collecting your own turkey feathers and cutting the feathers, you get the picture. Or just buying some cedar dowls, sealing, etc.
3rivers archery sells all you want for making wood or cane arrows. Primitive archer is a mag I get that generally goes the primitive arrow route. Lots of tips for straighening cane or knapping flint.

Take one of these
+
one of these
+ a little of this
+sinew(tendons) from one of these
the good thing is, the only tools you need if you dont already have them are a pocket Knife and a saw.
the bad thing is it might take a long time to make a dozen arrows.
hope this helped.

No one here has the time or space to answer that rather broad question. You would be wise to do google search on the subject. You can find things like this. http://www.3riversarchery.com/product.asp?i=5060-1

I meant carbon & aluminum...Not sure why this got thrown into the traditional area. I need to buy a fletching machine, etc, not sure which kind to buy... and all the accessories that go with making your own arrows.
I usually go to my bow guy & he makes them for me. But, I thought I'd save some money by making my own.
Thanks very much

Have fun and don't expect any immediate results that are perfect. There is a bit of a learning curve.
