Rich,

Congratulations on receipt of your new bow. The cardboard stays. It is silencing material for the limb to riser interface. I shoot a Firebird, so you'll have to wait for JRW or one of the other fellas to give you a recmmendation for brace height.

Hey Rich glad you got your bow I am sure you will enjoy it even more in the future. My hunter II is 60" and I have my brace height set at 7 5/8" I have however, had it from 7 1/2" to 8 1/4"--seems to shoot good where ever it is set but best around 8". Congrats Rich. Like Bill said, the paper stays. I shoot a hunter II as well, but I think the Hunters brace is lower because of the straight handle design. If it were me, I'd start at around 7" and start shooting. Turn the string to shorten it, increasing your brace height a little at a time until the bow shuts up and becomes stable. Each bow seems to have it's own sweet spot, depending on the shooter, where it shoots it's best and is it's quietest. A personal thing between the archer and bow.

Are you shooting the factory string? If so, I think they are dacron. You may want to add a flemish dynaflight97 string. It's an excellent string and will add punch to the power of the bow.

Have fun.

I have the Hunter with 2 sets of limbs (45 & 55) I've found that a brace height of 8 1/4 works best for my bow. It looks high to me but it's shooting great. I added "Cat Whiskers" to the string and the bow is VERY quiet. Shoot well! Dick
