Congrats Rich. Like Bill said, the paper stays. I shoot a hunter II as well, but I think the Hunters brace is lower because of the straight handle design. If it were me, I'd start at around 7" and start shooting. Turn the string to shorten it, increasing your brace height a little at a time until the bow shuts up and becomes stable. Each bow seems to have it's own sweet spot, depending on the shooter, where it shoots it's best and is it's quietest. A personal thing between the archer and bow.

Are you shooting the factory string? If so, I think they are dacron. You may want to add a flemish dynaflight97 string. It's an excellent string and will add punch to the power of the bow.
