Changed my practice this year

For the past few months, I have changed the way I practice with my longbow. I have been practicing mostly with broadheads. And using a 3D deer. And I only shoot one arrow. No more groups.
I shoot and go up and get my arrow. Shoot again.
It has made a world of difference in my shooting. And I don't know why. Maybe its the rest on my shoulder between shots. Maybe its all mental seeing those arrows sticking out of the deer and my mind making a mental adjustment based off the last shot. But I consistently hit 9 out of 10 arrows lately into the kill zone from 5-25 yards.
I struggled for over the past year or more getting past the 10 yard mark on consistent vital hits.
And it seems I have broke thru that plateau.
I pushed myself this weekend way too hard on a new recurve. But that 200 arrow shooting session reminded me not to overdo it or make adjustments when fatigued.
I know several people on here told me no groups when I started 2.5 years ago. But didn't listen.
I still say groups of 3 arrows can be benefitial for new shooters. But at some time, give the one arrow at a time a try. It helped me.

Your doing it right in my opinion. My dads been shooting long bow for 30 years now and he says the same thing to me while i'm shooting my recurve. When we quit learning things its time to give itup then, no ones perfect out there and theres always room for improvement. Good luck Bigcountry this fall!

Yep, thats the best way to practice.
Not to say burning in form isn't good either with a lot of arrows. But I like many others won't try to combine working on accuracy and form at the same time.

I quit doing groups this last summer myself.....I just got into trad last February, and cannot believe how accurate you can shoot with these trad bows.....This was my last group with broadheads....Looks kinda cool in the photo, But it was ugly when i pulled them....one split shaft, and feathers missing on another one of my newly built woodies.....Kirk

That was 20 yards....i open up to about 4 inches at 30, but still blow an arrow up now and then....wish i could shoot like that every day....but it sure is cool when everything comes together....Kirk
