Changed my practice this year
For the past few months, I have changed the way I practice with my longbow. I have been practicing mostly with broadheads. And using a 3D deer. And I only shoot one arrow. No more groups.
I shoot and go up and get my arrow. Shoot again.
It has made a world of difference in my shooting. And I don't know why. Maybe its the rest on my shoulder between shots. Maybe its all mental seeing those arrows sticking out of the deer and my mind making a mental adjustment based off the last shot. But I consistently hit 9 out of 10 arrows lately into the kill zone from 5-25 yards.
I struggled for over the past year or more getting past the 10 yard mark on consistent vital hits.
And it seems I have broke thru that plateau.
I pushed myself this weekend way too hard on a new recurve. But that 200 arrow shooting session reminded me not to overdo it or make adjustments when fatigued.
I know several people on here told me no groups when I started 2.5 years ago. But didn't listen.
I still say groups of 3 arrows can be benefitial for new shooters. But at some time, give the one arrow at a time a try. It helped me.
