Default Jackpot

After several weeks of trying to find what I want, I took a day and drove to a "good" sporting goods store today. I was very impressed.
They had a full line of traditional gear, goodies, and gadgets for me to feel with my own two hands.

I was able to find a good shooting glove, a Super Glove from Alaska Shooting Supply, 2 dozen shafts in an assortment of spines, Some glues, tips, and other assorted goodies.

What a joy to actually be able to find what the heck your looking for. Now I can build some arrows, and see what spine flies the best out of my bow.

The prices were pretty good, right in line with most of the catalogs that I have seen. Wont be long now, and I'll be out chasing rabbits with my bow.

Oh, and Honey, if you read this, everything that went on the credit card was 1/2 off. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Some of the stuff they just GAVE me to decrease their stock. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Man, how lucky can you get? We have had several archery/hunting stores within reasonable driving distance over the years (only one or two are still open), and none of them stocked a decent amount of trad gear (just not enough people buying to make it worth while). I had to do the trial and error thing with lots of mail order stores until I found suppliers I trust. Great to hear dude!

LBR, I was shocked myself. They hired a new dude with hair down to his rear, in an attempt to corner the market on the trad gear market.
They have it all now from feathers to quivers.

Do you think I got the right spine?
I got a 1/2 doz of 55-60, 1/2 doz of 60-65, and a dozen 65-70 spine shafts. They even had perfectly matched dozens of RRA shafts, but they were $30 a dozen, so I decided to wait until I found what shot the best.

Also, does anysome sell pre-lacquered shafts? The dozen that I bought look like they have a sealer on them already.

If you go with a 125 grain point, I am guessing the 60-65's or 65-70's will do the trick. Lot of variables though--just have to see what flies the best for you. Seems I have seen pre-laquered shafts for sale, but danged if I can remember where--been a good while back since I saw them.

At least now we know what we did wrong on the moose hunt--next time we all got to let our hair grow!

Footed shaft, the shop is called Jay's Sporting Goods, in Gaylord Michigan. Not sure where your from, but worth the drive if your close.

LBR, thanks for the idea of where to start. Im not sure I agree with the guy at the shop. He said to NEVER cut shafts down, always leave them full length. He had a goofy reasoning for it.
I am going to be trying the Magnus 1 heads, 135grn and see how they fly. Tom says they fly good on most of his shafts.
Oh, and long hair? How much longer do you think my hair could get? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
