Default Help with release

I have recently started shooting my recurves a lot more in preperation for this fall. I have been shooting pretty good but have been having problems with my fingers. I shoot three fingers under and have been developing an enormous blister/callous on my ring finger(third finger down). I have never really had this happen before and don't know how common it is or if there is something I should be working on with my release. I almost feel like I might be plucking my fingers and dragging that third one a bit. I don't know, any thoughts?

NEW61375, do you use a glove or tab while shooting? If you don't try to use one and it might stop the blistering and callousing. I hope this helps.

Yeah I use a Damascus and I have never really had this problem that is why I was thinking maybe I picked up a bad habit or something. I think I might be canting the bow and not really keeping my head and hand parallel to the cant. I'm not sure if that makes sense but I feel like my anchor and head are straight up and down but that doesn't really agree with my bow armandhow I am canting the bow. I don't know, I will end up working it out, I hope, I was just curious if anyone else may have had a similiar situation.

It could be a few things. It could be too much pressure on your ring finger. Often times it happens from a high elbow. You mentioned that you cant. Remember to keep the string in the first joint from the tip of the finger on all three fingers.

Thanks, when I read what you mentioned about the high elbow it makes sense. I shoot my compound a lot too and the wayI anchor with that(with my elbow up higher) is probably rubbing off on me and carrying over to my recurve. I will keep that in mindtomorrow when I'm shooting as well as the ring finger tip.

I have been shooting a little this winter in sub32F weather, and also use a damascus glove, but, my fingers are killing me shooting in this cold weather. Can't say I got blisters, but changed over to a tab for the winter.
