String needs to be B-50 or B-500 dacron. The bow was not built to handle fastflight (fastflight didn't even hit the market until nearly 20 years after that bow was made). Most dacron strings you find in a pro shop are 16 strands for hunting bows 50 lbs and up, and that's too heavy for a 35 lb bow. If it was mine, I'd make up a 12 strand string for it.

Yep--what Art said. You'll be hard pressed to find a "Pro Shop" that knows squat about trad bows--even at the Bass Pro headquaters, the guys at the archery counter knew probably less than my 11 year old.
10-12 strands of dacron (I'd go with 12), endless or flemish will work fine, 58-58.5". My first recurve was a Tigercat--have wished more than once I'd kept it just for that reason.
