Found this little relic from 1968 at my new "in laws" or "outlaws", but not yet. Says Colt Woodsman and looks to have the symbol of the folks from "Colt" who makes the 1911 pistol, etc. Basically a one piece recurve laminated wood with fiberglass overlays on top and bottom.
Anyway, little lady wants to shoot. So this bow seems pretty nice and is like 33#. I measured the string, which is scary and its 58.5 to 59" long. I am trying to figure string needed and proper Brace hieght.

If it is that old ,you might want to Floor tiller it and tested it before you string it up, sometimes when they sit for a long time they become brittle and can brake and hurt you or her.
String should be 4 inches shorter tan the total length of the bow and for her 61/2 " for brace height should be good.

8.5" may be a bit high, but it won't hurt the bow--it will just cost you a little bit of performance.
String length depends on whether or not the bow was built to AMO specs--AMO states that the string length should be 3" shorter than the AMO bow length (under 100# tension).
The company (Colt) is the same as the firearms manufacturer--they had another company make the bows for them and put their logo on (like Browning did, and like some still do today).
Dacron only for the string (B-500 or B-50), 10-12 strands will work just fine, endless or flemish will do the trick.
