Is it fair to say that most long bows have a shorter brace height than most recurves?
True in most cases, but not in all.

Usually, but not always.

A shade less than $200 for a Samick Viper and the prices go up from there.

I've got an AIM/Samick Explorer recurve that shot great for a couple of years. I busted a limb on it and just never have ordered a replacement set. I know quite a few guys who started out their longbow shooting with a Samick Viper and not one of them had any complaints about it. Well, other than it was kinda plain looking. Again, it's one of those cases where you can't expect Mercedes for a Yugo price tag. They make a Viper Delux that is a lot better looking, to me anyway, for a small increase in price.

BIG grip on that Viper. If you got some meathooks, go for it.

But I'd check with Chad and see what he's got/can get. Some of the Chek-Mates areclose in price and a helluva lot better bow.
