Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Well this year sucked. I'm kinda glad it's over as much as i love hunting. It was a very frustrating year for me. I managed to make it out 9 times in our 3 week season, and being a full-time student that's quite a bit. Out of those 9 times hunting only two times i did not see a bird. That is pretty successful i guess. Last thursday was my last day out, and I saw 13 birds, the only problem was they roosted on conservation land but then flew down to a field on private ground. The whole season I did not see a single gobbler without a hen. Thats what made it such a tough season. Other than that I am waiting on bow season to start again. Bring on the 3d shoots this summer. Good luck to everyone that is still hunting, and sorry I couldnt close the deal, but Hey thats why it's called HUNTING. Have a good one guys.
Buddy, all u can do is your best!

I've tried sending them to Pat several times but he has not responded to any of them. I have a list of all of our team with their scores if you want me to post them.

I would guess Pat is still busy guiding......At least that's my hope.....I sure hope nothing's wrong, this is a bit out of character for him.

Got another bird Saturday. It should have been my nephews but he couldn't get the shot. We have a few forrest fires going on down here in S.GA so it was very smokey. Birds didn't gobble at all, but I had been seeing one strutting with hens in the area for 2 weeks now. We set up under the tree where I shot my last bird and waited. At about 6:35 a bird came into the corner of the field, soon followed by 6 others. Then big boy came out. You could see his white head glowing through the smoke. I yelped a couple of times and he gobbled and began to strutt. The birds started running down the tree line to the corner of the field to my left. Next thing I know they are running down the tree line from the corner towards my decoy. I yelped again and he gobbled again and went intoa strutt. The bird was 10 yards out but my nephew couldn't get the shot. I hated to do it because he has never shot a longbeard but I could't let the bird go. We have hunted him hard for 2 weeks and finally got the opportunity 3 days before the season went out. I dropped him at 10 yrds. 10 1/2"beard, 18lbs, 1 1/4"left, 1" right. I will upload a picture shortly.

Season's over for me , no bird. Was out for the last four days heard exactly two gobbles saw one bird (a jake) at 60yds who spotted me and ran. They seem to still be henned up. mostly on the adjacent property ( we have about fourty acres of woods, the adjacent is 300acres of river bottom. Our area is used by the farmer for ATV rides and also by the vacationers in the cottages the adjacent acres are pretty much left undisturbed, can you guess where the Tom's hang out?) Oh well like they say with the Cubs, better luck next year! Bye all!
