Well now that it's nice out I have been working with my girlfriend on her shooting skills. She still has some problems with consistant grip and stance but she is getting much better.

I have got her to check her stance and grip before every shot and things tightend right up for her.

This is a group from the end of march when she first started shooting outside. I think it was at 20 yards.

This is one we shot this weekend at 20 yards.

She doesn't always shoot that well, but its getting to where she shoots better more often than she doesn't.

She was having some trouble with 30 and 40 yards. They were all over the place when she moved back. I took a closer look at her arrows and discovered they were a little stiff and only had 5% of FOC. Not too good with those little straight fletched vanes. I added some weight to the tips and things improved greatly at 30 yards.

She is starting to really enjoy it now. She doesn't think she is that good. I told her she is doing pretty good for the amount of time she spends shooting. I know guys that hunt and think they are decent shots that do not shoot as well she does.

I think I might try and teach her 6 year old next. He is a bit wild though, I don't know if I am ready for that, or if he would listen to me. I think I like showing people to shoot more than I do actually shooting?

She doesn't want to have anything to do with hunting. She doesn't mind me doing it, and will even eat the burger if you put in sloppy joes or tacos. I don't think she would be very good at hunting any way, plus her set up is a bit light for it.

She shoots an Alpine Micro with 30 lbs of draw and 25 inches of draw length. It has a muzzy drop away on it and some cheap adjustable sight I got at dunham's one day. It's actually not a bad sight for 30 bucks.

Here is a pick of her and the bow.

Nothing high dollar, I think it was 190 before tax for the bare bow. I told her she could get a rintec if she wanted but she liked this one? I would have went with the rintec myself. It shoots 189 fps with a 286 grn arrow. They weigh a bit more now though since I changed the tip weight.

I got the target at a Dicks Sporting good store in toledo ohio. I think it sucks myself. It has a layer of something inside it that really grabs your points. If you have inserts and they are not glued in very well you will lose them pulling arrows sometimes. It wasn't very expensive either though, under 30 bucks I think and it's fairly big.

That's what is going to keep our sport going.

Those are some great groups.

It doesn't matter if she want's to hunt ,that's probably a plus for you ,but you just might have to take some lesson's from her ,when she's shooting that well .congrat's to her ,it definetly show's she's paying attention and love's to shoot .

That is some pretty impressive shooting. I would say that she has got some talent to come so far so fast (we will forget the part about commenting on how good a teacher she has... ). Now she can start whoopin' your butt.

ya, those two groups are better than I shoot some times, I need to start shooting some more and get new arrows. Like I said, those are not her average groups, but what she can do when she has her ducks in a row.

It took her a while to get used to the draw weight as well, she still gets tired pretty fast. At least she tries and enjoys it. The hard part is not forcing her to shoot. Sometimes she wants to and others she doesn't.

I haven't tried to get her to shoot multiple spots yet either. However I am thinking of joining a spot league this winter with her depending on what our schedules are.
