Bowtech, say it isn't so- My Patriot saga continues..And continues (new stuff)
I got a call from my proshop yesterday that my limbs had finally arrived (it's been 40 days since I dropped my bow off) and that my Pat was put back together.
Bad news for me is the pro said my bow max's at 76#!! now- errggg!
" your gonna give your self a hurnia if you try to pull that thing back!"
76# max??? What am I supposed to do with that???
I was hoping for 70#(give or take a # or 2) limbs so I could back the bow to the low to mid 60's.
Now with a 76# max I'll be luck to hit 66# if I turn the limbs out the maximum of 2.5 turns as recommended in the owners manual.
I'm hoping when I get to the shop the cable is tied in a knot or some strange thing like that. Once I return all the ATA, brace & timing marks where they belong I'll scale it and see what I've got. If it's truely 76# max I'm not sure what to do with it[:'(].
Why me?????

There are two different size limb pads. Your bow may have been first made with the larger ones and may now, because of different limb deflection, need the smaller ones. Just a thought.

Len might be right. There are standard rockers and tall rockers. You may have the tall rockers in right now. Putting regular size rockers in will drop you about 3#'s. Have your dealer call Bowtech and get some standard rockers in. They send them free of charge (usually).
If your bow was originally a heavy 60#er than there is a good chance it had tall rockers under its limbs.
I have had to play with different rockers before after switching limbs. Turned out the bows new 70# limbs maxed at 68. After throwing in the tall rockers it was a touch over 70#'s.

Geniuses, all 3 of ya!
Thank goodness. I hope this is it.
I did originally order a "heavy 60" and therefore could very well have the tall rockers. (which might explain the limbs going south)
This is great news as I've been brainstorming all day on what bow to buy next if I couldn't get this one right (for me) and have drawn a blank.
I want my Patriot.
I called my proshop and told him about the possibility of having taller rockers and he hesitantly asked if I wanted to order the smaller rockers. He recommended trying to lower the draw weight and see if we could get it low enough for me. I know I don't want to be shooting a bow all the way backed out (for one thing it just looks goofy as heck). I think there tired of dealing with me.
I just want my bow back, 29" ~70# max backed down to 62-65#.
Thanks again!
Time to call the shop back.

I wish my bow would go up to 78#'s with my 27" draw.
Dave, sorry to hear about all the trouble, hopefully these bowtech guru's were right on the money and you can get your baby back.

DavidPaul007, if your shooting a bowtech then all you need to do is go get some of the tall rockers installed. I'm not sure if other makes do this also, but have heard of people "shimming" their limb pockets with a cut piece of tygon tubing to get the same effect (more draw weight).
Good luck to ya!

I'm in the market for limbs too DaveC. It's not that my limbs are bad, but that I want to try a lighter draw weight. I called the factory pro-shop a few weeks ago in Oregon and got info about ordering the limbs. He mentioned the rocker thing and said that they'd throw in a extra set of rockers for free just to be sure I get the draw weight I want. I've decided that I'll be dealing with the true pros in Oregon as much as possible for this bow. They've been great everytime I've called as have the Bowtech reps on this board.
It sounds to me like you're dealing with what we call in eastern Pennsylvania - "hooftees".
Good luck

Hooftees??? that's a new one to me.
BTW I got some porn spam the otherday in my e-mail account from a "Mr.fritz"[8D]. I thought it was funny!! ( I didn't look at it of course).
I called my dealer back and got the quick cut off because he was on the phone w/ his "Mathews rep". He did mention that he would call BT and maybe do something "in the shop". He does have at least a dozen 04 Bowtechs on the shelf collecting dust so maybe he's considering swapping my pads out with one of those? We'll see.
One things for sure- I don't want a 76# bow.
If I have to call bowtech and try to do it myself I will.

Bowtech must REALLY hate me. (what did I do??)
I called the shop this morning to see if my “normal” sized rockers have come in yet. (It has been one week and a day since I witnessed my shop owner on the phone requesting the rockers.) The shop owner said no they were not in but he would call BT and see where they were.
Well I got a call about 3 hours later from the shop saying, “Hey Dave looks like I’ve got your rockers right here, let me open the box and make sure”. Directly after hearing this I start to brainstorm on how/when I can pick them up and if I can get the bow ready for my Blackbuck/pig hunt next week. Then I hear “hey is there any more boxes? Check this box and make sure I’m not missing it”. My buddy happens to be there and I hear them start laughing. Some how, some way I was sent
ONE ROCKER!!!
Oh man does the agony ever end????
Now it will be Tuesday before they can call BT back and see what the chances are on getting the OTHER rocker for my bow.
Good thing I’ve been practicing all week with my old Z-light because it looks like I’ll be taking it on my next hunt. Phantoms, Slick tricks and Stingers all good out to 30 I’m ret-to-go. Too bad my Patriot isn’t.
Is there anything I'm missing on this one?
Are you supposed to cut one rocker in half to make two??
p.s. My Bud was there getting his limbs replaced on his Parker Phoenix 32, less than a 3 day turnaround time for him (includes shipping new limbs). That is some GREAT customer service right there.
