Carter Releases Anyone?
Does anyone have any experience with a Carter release, specifically the One Shot? Looks nice, but at a price of around $95 I can't really afford to not like it if I bought one. I'm not entirely satified with my Cobra release, I'd like more adjustability, etc. Thanks.

Yes carters are very good releasesas are scotts and golden keys. if you are interested in a good release check out the golden key cascade or answer release.....both are great and are great for 3-d, indoor, or in the case of the answer hunting since it has 3 adjustment settings to match your shooting conditions.
good luck!

I don't have a Carter index trigger release, but I do also shoot an "Insatiable" (Thumb trigger)......I can say that my accuracy is much more consistent with this release vs my Scott index trigger style, but I'm a bit leary to hunt with it due to the hair trigger. I really don't need to snag my facemask or jacket in the excitement and fire off a warning shot. <img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>
As much as I'd love to hunt with it I'm going to save it for 3D.
Very well made releases tho.....I really like mine.

IDkTm, I have a Carter One Shot. It is a very good release. I probably own around 25 index finger style releases and can honestly say that none are any better than the one shot. The best thing about this release, IMO is that due to the double sear, there is absolutely no detectable trigger travel. You can adjust it so that a stiff breeze sets it off, or go clear to the other side, where it takes two grown full grown men to tug off a shot, and the trigger travel is still the same...NONE!
The only downside is that you must shoot it with a string loop, or with release rope, due to the small channel used in the caliper. You could not get the release to close on a main string.
It also has a built in safety that you depress with your thumb while drawing your bow.
