I can not decide on a new bow and was looking to the wisedom of the group to help me decide between 3 bows...all Mathews.
Which one would you buy base on the following criteria:
1.Mainly a hunting bow
2.also used for 3-D shooting
The choices are: SQ2, Q2, (the not yet released) Legacy
Please give the reasons for your selection.
Thanks for your help.
p.s. if you would like to include any other info on how you would set up the rest of the bow feel free.
p.s.s. What about the "Zero Effect" rest from Muzzy?

I don't shoot a Mathews but if you have already decided on a Mathews the only way to decide is to shoot the three you have it narrowed down to and go from there, I actually thought I was going to end up with a Mathews until I shot some other brands and found what I was looking for from someone else, don't let the opinions of others be the controling factor when you buy your new bow, opinions can be a valuable tool if they are based on actual experience but there's an aweful lot of quality equipment out there, try as many bows as you can.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have always been a hoyt man. I wanted a new bow this year so I did a lot of looking. I narrowed it down to the hoyt cybertec or the mathews q2,q2xl. Both great bows!! But the cybertec won out. Very quiet and very accurate. Do yourself a favor and don't rule out a specific bow until you have shot it. I don't think you can go wrong with Hoyt or Mathews, both companys really stand behind their equipment. Good luck!!

Best thing is to go to a shop, tell the tech you are interested in a Mathews (whichever model) and then tell him you'd like to try at least two other manufacturers' brands with the same configurations, then try them all, blindfolded. Yep, this eliminates the "brand popularity", "buddies' influence", "marketing and hype" and whatever else, and gets down to the bottom line, which is fit, feel, ease of draw, recoil, hand shock, and vibration. When blindfolded, have the dealer simply put a bow in your hands without telling you which brand or model it is, help you hook up the release, let you draw, and point you in the correct direction to shoot into a bale. shoot a few arrows with each bow. This way you'll "feel" it, and you will know which one you should buy based on what feels best to you, not looks, name, etc. It's amazing how many people actually come into the shop with one bow in mind, and after trying several blindfolded, walk out with a completely different bow. Good luck in your search. Pinwheel 12

they are all good bows, I myself like longer ATA bows & tried a 34 ATA for a few years but have went back to longer (Q2XL). I would say the Q2 would be my choice, I did not see any advantage to the legacy over it for the additonal costs in price. the best thing to do is shoot each & then get the one you like the feel of better. out the 3 you listed I think I would go for the Q2.
Good Luck

The longer axle to axle will be harder to cant for one thing. Another thing I've found that is with a longer draw length it's just harder to shoot a shorter bow. For me anything under 34" just doesn't work as well.

It you're at all affiliated with the ABC Network (taken from your link), you might want to get the opinion of Norm Lewis. He is the television weather anchor and a 4 time archery National Champion. He has owned just about every brand of bow that you mentioned and more. He won't pick or couldn't pick a brand for you, no more than I or anyone on this forum. He will, however, give you honest advice as to how to select a bow, because he is a certified instructor as well.
Good luck in your search.
