And 1 last question, Is the new Bow tech "Patriot" just a Mathews "Q2" reworked?
Thanks

I was having the same debate over which one to buy. I got the q2 and love it. I shoot a gold tip xt55/75, 125gr muzzy over a nap 3000. shooting 60lbs with a 30 inch draw i get 265fps. i don't know about the muzzy ze rest. its seems to be snowing a lot when i hunt and i thought that it might cause problems with the rest. hope this helps.

Minnesota,
How did you come to the conclusion that you needed a 30" draw on your bow. Is there some formula or measurement that determines this draw length or is it personal preference?

mlaubner.....draw length is very important. A properly fit bow for you would come to the corner of your mouth of maybe a 1/2 inch past. Most shops will have bows set at different draw legths. Pull a few back and see what feels comfortable to you. I shoot a 28 to 28 1/2" draw. Like said before dont depend on other peoples opinions on equipment. Ive shot the Q2 and liked it but another bow just suited me better. I really think you should look at more than one brand on bow. IMO every bow company out there makes a good bow. Mathews makes great bows and im sure you would be 100% satisfied with a Q2. The straightline maxcam 2 draw is actually about a half inch longer than what specs say. Fortunatly with my bow i didnt have to worry about draw length because it has 4 inchs of adjustability. This is the most important part of setting your bow up. I cant stress that enough. I would rather have a $100 dollar bow that fit me than a $600 that didnt.

If you plan on doing any competitive shooting stay away from the SQ2 and other short bows like it. If you have your heart set on Mathews I would get the Q2 but also take a look at some other bows as well, like the Champion Mustang, Bowtech Patriot, Mathews Conquest 2, Hoyt ProTech, and the Parker Feather-Mag II. Do NOT limit yourself to 1 brand because it is the most popular.

Traditionally 3-D shooters, I have found, like the longer smoother bows that are a little more forgiving (longer brace Heights). I shot some 3-D last year with a shorter bow and had fun but I did not feel that it was the right equipment. This year I purchased a TRUE Target bow. (SEE PICS UNDER KIDDS NEW BOW FROM MATT / PA) Under the technical thread. Anyway. I would suggest some MAnufacturers, such as BowTech, Hoyt,Darton, adn Matthews. IN that order. The reason I did not mention specific bows is because each person likes something a little different in each line. I feel that all of these bow co. have something to offer, I suggest you shoot each bow that you are interested in FIRST then make your choice. My personal FAV"S are the Bow Tech Pro 38 or 40, then the patriot, then one of the Hoyt's (ultra, or protech) hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone...I have been looking at several different manufacturers and their bows. Mathews just seems to be ahead of the "curve" when it comes to technical innovations that produce results, like the parallel limb design. In reality wouldn't the perfect bow really be in the shape of a square?
Any thoughts?

one other thought is don`t buy that seven hundred dollar bow when there are a lot of bows out there that are just as good for less money because that bow is going to drop in value like a rock and in two years that 700 dollar bow will be worth a whooping two hundred bucks personaly I buy a good quality bow around 400 bucks and then when your bow is outdated it won`t hurt so much to up grade

Thank you for that peice of sound, sage advice.
I learned about equiptment depreciation the hard way when playing tournament paintball. But it was my experience that the better stuff you bought in the beginning, the more resale it had later. I guess this is not true in archery?
