I don't own a current model, but I have shot the new ones, and owned a 2002.

Pros: SMOKIN' FAST. VERY accurate, and surprisingly forgiving for the low brace height. Produces ALOT of energy at moderate draw weights.

Cons: At longer draws, and higher poundages, they are a little thumpy, and can get a little noisy with light arrows. Low brace height will be an issue for many folks due to improper draw length/form. Very narrow valley & stout draw force curve at longer (29 & 30") draw lengths.

If you have a shorter draw, or don't want to pull a ton of weight it's a great choice for a hunting bow.

BTW..nice deer! congrats!

IMO, most anyone could be entirely accurate enough with the BlackKnight at hunting distances ( out to 30 yards or so). It's not as quiet as many single cam bows but it is the world's fastest bow I believe the problem most would have with the BK would be string clearance while wearing heavy hunting clothes with the 5 3/4 inch brace height. The Patriot VFT and Patriot Dually would be 2 great choices for a more forgiving "speed" bow with higher brace heights of 7 inches and 7 5/8 inches respectively. Shoot them all and let us know what you find

I decided seeing I have a 28" draw to try the BK this year and what Jeff said is very true.

I was very surprised that a bow with the power the BK puts out is very shootable and for me very forgiving.

My set up is 60lb 28" draw 400 gr Axis arrows 280fps consistantly through the crono for 70lb of KE.

If you have a longer draw lenght then I would recomend the Pro 40 dually a friend of mine has one and let me play with it for a week but I kept it for more like a month.

At 60lb 28" draw the same 400gr arrows 272fps through the crono with 7" brace extremely accurate ( as with all the BT's I have shot) quite and forgiving.

Like Jeff said if you have any form flaws the short brace of the BK is going to let you know.

In all honesty with either the BK or Pro40 Dually you wont need any more then 60lb draw weight.

The valley does take some getting used to it is only about 1/2" so you really have to draw the bow slow so when the cams roll over you can ease it into the rock solid back wall if you dont draw slow then you are going to bounce off the wall.

Hopefully I will have some pics next week of what the combination of 1 crazy Aussie, 1 Black Knight and 400gr Axis arrows tipped with Muzzy 100"s will do to pigs

These guys covered the main points, but I would definately reccomend shooting it. It is a great bow, but not for everyone. I sold one a month ago. It came in at 73# 29.5" shooting 350fps exactly. I have shot every bowtech out, several times each. One thing that most people don't realize is that the black knight has a hard pull. It is smooth but harder than any of the solo's. It took a lot for me to get it back, granted it was a bit long for me. I was very impressed with it as a whole. I just like the easier pulling solo's. Shoot it you may love it.

Bingo...

I have an 03 with the tall brace. Maxes at #63 at 29" and shoots a 405 grain ACC at 295....with a loop, peep and leeches.

I can't pull a 70lbr back in the freezin' cold late season in Michigan and opted on the BK for the ferocious energy at lower poundages.

It's no more critical than my Patriot Dually IMO but is just a bot louder than I'd like. If I shot a heavier arrow I could quite it down, but I've never had a deer jump the string yet so...

most all bowtech bows are top heavy
you can remedy that with a stabelizer

if you are looking for a good bow with good speed check out the Newberry SB1 single cam is 325 IBO and the dual cam is 330 IBO comfortable and perfectly balanced.

My BK is not top heavy even without a Stabilizer it just sits dead in the hand on the shot.

The changes they made from 03 to 04 are slightly thinner riser and grip, roller bearings in the cams, pivioting limb pockets, the cams have been smoothed out a little, different strings now ST1 material and different camo MO.

Some of the earlier bows were a little top heavy. The 04s are better balanced. In addition to better balance, bearings and pivoting limb pockets were added in 04.
