Broadhead: Crimson Talon
with my new Outback the guys recommended the Crimson Talon's. Has anybody had any experience with them?? They look brutal!! :D

RE: Broadhead: Crimson Talon
From what I hear they fly good but the blades are flimsy and easily damaged even from just shooting foam targets. I have heard a lot of bad reports. I won't ever be using them. I think they are designed to LOOK WICKED and thats about it.

RE: Broadhead: Crimson Talon
This years' Talons have a much harder Rockwell on the blades over last years' model, and they actually hold up quite well now and do not flex much at all. They also bore one heckova hole thru critters (or anything else), can't miss the bloodtrail!
They do shoot lower than a comparative straight blade broadhead , but they are definately far improved over the first generation. Those new Raptor mechanicals are especially wicked! Good shooting, Pinwheel 12 |

RE: Broadhead: Crimson Talon
i don't like them at all they said you you don't have to tune them but that
is not true like any other broad head but they don't fly like field points. |
RE: Broadhead: Crimson Talon
I used them last year and i loved them i had no problem with the blades.
And i cant wait to use them this year again. Good luck |
RE: Broadhead: Crimson Talon
I talked to the pro shop on the phone. He is still very pro CT. I asked him about the G5, "doesn't leave a very good blood trail, the holes have a tendacy to close back up." He also said the reason the CT get broken is because people don't read the directions. You are supposed to pull the arrow all the way through (huh?). He said he has never broken a blade.
Just something to add to the debate.... Steve |
RE: Broadhead: Crimson Talon
I just tried out a pack of the 100 Raptors the other day again---shot arrows into a Blueridge 2" thick 4 lb ethafoam target (last years) with two layers of 1/2" spongy foam covering it (extra slowing power so it doesn't pass completely through) and busted a mechanical blade on the very first shot. Just foam, nothing else in the target! Went and grabbed another new one, and it lasted six shots before breaking a blade. They fly good, but I didn't see anything so great that it is going to turn me away from the Wasps I currently shoot. I will try the "regular" Talons with the new rockwell later on this weekend. JMHO.
