What is that dude smokin???!!! I can't comment on the Crimson Talons, I have never used them, but I have killed a number if nice animals with the G5 and I can unequivocally say the wounds do not "close back up". Further, the blood trails were just fine.

I bought some last year to try i.e., last years models, and they didn't fly any better then anyother broadhead of that size, just cost more.

[8D] i was just fooling around in the back yard last spring i decided to test a couple crimson talons on my tough bag i put a 1/8 inch board behind it i know broad heads penitrate my bag it went thru the bag and the board i fired all 3 they all came out the back none broke i had to push the arrow all the way thru to get them out

[8D] i was practacing over the week end the talons fly really good but you have to push them all the way thru the target or they brake the foam targets at wall mart work good for this and they do stop broad heads

Why???? This statement 'does not compute' unless you're telling me that this BH, due to it's frontal drag, causes the arrow to slow down quite a bit.

Yep, I believe it is due to the "frontal spin" which creates differing spine stress and thus performs that much differently than an identical setup that is shooting comparable "normal" BH's of the same general length and weight. I did not "re-tune" to the specific Talon BH, so that also may certainly have some affect on actual point of impact heights, but when simply swapped around, they impact lower.

The problem that I saw when I first examined these BHs was differing loads created by 'bends' that were not uniform. This could create differing "spine stress", and due to inconsistent spine problems with many carbon arrows, could also create erratic flight problems in general.

They told me that they had instituted better quality control on the blades. The question is, 'did they or didn't they'?

I guess I'll have to throw some on my bow to see what happens.:D I've got 4 different BHs in my quiver right now that I'm testing.;)

I have video of a Pronghorn Kill using the Talon .
Bill Snodgrass on Hunts to Remember on the Sportsman Channel was using the Talon along with my TURBOS on Hunts last year.

They do a really mean job of cutting. The Pronghorn went down in seven seconds. I did notice that the blades did not hold up very well, but I guess you have to weigh the damage the blade does vs its durability.

It is one of the few fixed blade broadheads that works with our Deadx model nock , because it has the basic same pitch in the broadhead blades as the vanes in the nock. and the two products compliment each other.
