Default which is better?

I shoot with both eyes open. Is closing one eye better, or does it really matter?

i was always taught to shoot (gun and bow) with both eyes open while hunting, it gives you a better chance to see which way the animal runs after the shot.

While target shooting i close one eye, but closer to season i will practice with both open just to get used to it again.

I like both eyes open. Triangulation is what gives you depth perception....I feel that's very important. Also, you can see the whole critter, better anticipate it's next move(because you can see the whole thing) and focus more easily. I don't which is better, but I know what works better for me. My groups got tighter when I switched from one eye to both open.

It really doesn't matter as long as you do it the same way every time. Don't site the bow in with one eye closed, and then try to shoot with both open. You may get different impact points.

I shoot with both open, gives you a better field of view I think.

Shoot with BOTH eyes open. It's amazing the amount of lowlight vision you'll sacrifice using only one eye. For hunting you need to use BOTH eyes constantly.

mbh,

You have much better depth perception using both eyes for hunting.
It can makes the difference between a missed or wounded animal.
No big deal for target shooting if you close one eye during the shot.
I shoot both eyes open for both.

I shoot with one eye open and can drive tacks this way, if i try to shoot with both eyes open I cant hit the broad side of a barn!

no way is really better than the other what is better is the way you are most accurate and which feels more natural to you.

My step dad tells me it is best to shoot with both eyes open but I can out shoot him any day of the week so which is best?
