In the next few weeks I will be purchasing a 2004 Bowtech Patriot SC. I plan on shooting it from possibly 65-70 lbs. My first question is what is the ATA (AMO) rating of a 60-70lb Patriot SC? I can't seem to find that on Bowtechs website. This inturn goes to my second question, I have been shooting 29" Carbon express 4560 terminator selects out of my current bow at 67lbs with great results, no tuning problems at all, I'm even using a Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter rest, which many say a drop-away will cause you bad tuning problems if you are underspined. Which if you look at a carbon express chart shows I am shooting down a spine size. Do you think I could get away with shooting 4560's out of a Patriot SC pulling 65-70lbs? I tried to figure out the adjusted draw weight according to carbon expresses charts but I need the ATA (AMO) Rating of the Patriot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

email bowtech and they should give you a answer. but if i would guess i would say around 240 just a estimate.

Use Actual Draw weight, hard single cam and shade toward the stiff side when choosing shafts for that bow. Plug in your actual draw weight and if you are borderline go with the heavier spined shaft.
At 65-70# you will be Wayyyyyyy underspined with a 29" shaft and that set-up. You are going to be shooting one of the fastest single cams on the market in the Patriot so if you already know you are underspined for your current bow I wouldn't plan on being so lucky with the new one.[:-] You already know the answer right? you just don't want to drop more coin on new arrows?

Jump up to a 6075........At 30"/70# I shot 29" 6075 Terminator Hunter selects 's from my Patriot SC with a 100gr head and they tuned beautifully and flew like darts.

What's your draw length?

Thanks Matt that is what I figured[:@] I was planning on buying new shafts anyway for this bow. I just have a bunch of 4560's now. My draw is actually 29.5 but with My current bow I'm shooting it closer to 30" due to string stretch, I'm afraid to shorten my draw to were the charts say I should be because I'm shooting it better than I ever had, In fact I put up a 301 on a 32 target 3D course the other week and Just shot my first 3D round 2 weeks ago without scoring anything lower than an 8. Oh well I guess I'll just have to buy more arrows, the wife will love that

Definitely bump up the spine. Patriot SC stores ALOT of energy even though it doesn't feel like it does at the shot.

I have been shooting a Bowtech for about 41/2 years now and alot of my hunting buddys have them also...what we have found out like what matt said in his post.....we select our arrows like if it was a dual cam bow...The Bowtech Bows have a lot more power right from the start then most other bows with the single cam...so when selecting arrows keep that in mind

Thanks guys, that was exactly what I was thinking, you just confirmed my thought process. I thought about it and I would like to keep my arrow weight down to about 400 grains and using the 6075 Terminator Selects will put me way over that. So I am looking at maybe going with the Gold Tip XT's, I Tried gold tips a few years ago and hated the lock nocks, but they got rid of them this year. And I have a buddy who like me tried them a few years ago but just did not like the nocks but is using them again this year and said they are much better. I also talked with my local shop last night and they also confirmed my thinking in that I should go with the 7595's instead of the 5575's for my new Patriot. Thanks for all the help guys.

Chad, how did you make out at the shop last night? I believe the "buddy" you are referring to was me. Yes, I always liked the Gold Tips. But, the Lock-nocks they used in years passed sucked for lack of better words. They are now using a press fit nock very similar in design and size to the Easton super nocks. They much, much better and I actually think the string fit is a little better than eastons. At least on my bow.

As everyone has already mentioned, a stiffer spine would be in order for you. I think its better to be a little on the stiff side, especially for broadheads. And, you are shooting a single cam, which also tends to like a stiffer spined shaft.

If you're going with the Gold Tips, get the 7595's and forget about it. You'll be just fine.

Oh, and one other thing Chad, you have any hair left?

Yeah there is some hair left, not much but some I decided to go with the 7595's after talking with you, getting info hear on the board and talking with Bruce and Jim at the shop. Everyone says go with the 7595's so that's what i'm gonna do. Majority rules i guess.
