Much depends on your draw length also when figuring out how much energy you'll develope. I test shot a 70 pound BlackKnight with a 30 inch draw and it shot a 452 grain arrow 320 fps for 102.80 foot pounds of K.E. Is that enough?

According to Bowtech's websitewww.bowtecharchery.com The Samson VFT comes in 80,90, or 100 pound draw weights and has the same Specs as the Extreme VFT. Should be one of the hardest shooting bows out there. The only problem with these bows are out of the 2 Bowtech dealers in my area neither one carry's them and you have to special order them without shooting them.

Considering that my '03 Pat Dually shoots just as fast at 62# as my old PSE Carroll Intruder did at 82#... I'd say that the heavier weights are pretty much over kill now a days. I bet if you contacted Bowtech.. they could make any of their bows in an 80# model for you... just a matter of throwing on a different set of limbs.

Bowtech Extreme VFT Samson, PSE Gorilla, and the Mathews Safari would be the the types of bows your looking for!

actually quite a few companies offer bows with 80 lb limbs. I think bowtech offers more than just the samson. The samson is 80 and up, but I think they have a few that top out at 80. I have seen some other popular brands with the same options, just can't think of them at the moment. I will look later maybe.

Bowtech, hoyt, browning, forge, PSE, and renegade all offer at least one bow with an 80 lb option. Bowtech and hoyt offer more than a few. So if you want to draw that much weight, they are out there for you to try. It may be hard to shoot one that way though. I doubt pro shops order many bows with that kind of draw weight. You would most likely have to shoot one at 70 lbs, then order one with the heavier limbs on it when you buy it.

RE: Hard Shooting Bow

I know lots of guys who can draw 80 lbs easier than I can draw 60, and I can draw 60 very easily. There are some out there who are hunting whitetails with 60 and 70 lb bows and a grizzly must be about 5 times larger. I know if I was hunting brown bears, I'd be using the heaviest draw I could handle without problems and the heaviest arrow I could put together. By all means, if you can easily draw it, then get the heavier draw weight bow.

I doubt many shops stock the hevier draw weights, so you'll have to trust the brand or try shooting the equivalent 70 lb model.
