I need some help from my archery friends…

My house was broken into Fri. 6/4/04 and many BowTech bows were stolen. I don’t have all the details yet because I’m out of town but from what my daughter has described there were at least 10 bows that were stolen, possibly more. Some of the bows were completely set up and some were bare bows.

I’m offering a reward for information leading the arrest and conviction of the person/persons guilty of this crime and I will certainly punish them to the fullest extent of the law when caught.

The reward is a free BowTech bow of your choice or $500.00 cash whichever is preferred.

I’ve notified all my local archery shops but I also need help passing this information on to other shops in the state of Ohio and surrounding states as well as help watching E-Bay, free classifieds, pawn shops and flea markets.

I seen a few bowTech's for sale on e-bay the other night and am sure they were all from the same person. Just a little info ,they might be legit but who know's .Sorry to hear about this crap I'd cry if someone stole my Dually Pat. Hope you can get them back. Good Luck to you

To think that some low life has violated your home makes me sick.

I think an ld fashioned "Ohio draggin'" would be fair enough punishment for stealing even one BowTech bow. Tie him behind an old Ford pickup and set the cruse on 12 miles per hour and tell hin "we're going 25 miles wheather you run or not"[:@]

Man thats horrible. I can feel your pain, because I had a pse stolen out of my car...ok, well maybe I can't feel your pain, because it led me into buying a hoyt, and then a bowtech. :D Seems like the thieves always go for the stuff you love, not the stuff you have but cant stand to use.. ie the lawnmower. I hate to say it but it sounds like someone who either knows YOU, or more likely someone that knows your daughter.
I would find out if any of her aquaintances hunt and who was in the house recently.......cross reference that list and I'd start right there.
It's obvious to me that it's someone who has been IN your house before hand knew exactly what they were looking for.

99% of the time if it's only a specific item or items taken from a burglary it's someone that you or a family member already knows and it's something that they wanted.

That really stinks. I know I would be very upset if something like that happened to me. I will pass the word along in my neck of the woods but doubt anybody would travel this far to sell them.....will keep an eye on Ebay as well.

I just got home from a 12 hour drive from Memphis and boy was I surprised at what I found...

WTF!!!!!!! They took approx. 40 bows and that's pretty much it.

It'll take me a few days to get everything together for the Sheriff but I'll try to get a list of what bows were stolen up soon... I'll not be posting any serial numbers though, too much info that I don't want released.

Just so you all know, there was 1 bow that was a one of a kind BK2, it was Black/Blue varigated like we offer this year but it was a anodizing sample from 2002 and we didn't start producing these until this year and as far as that goes, the 2004 BK isn't available in color...

For starters please keep an eye out for a Black/Blue BK2 with BK cams on it.

They also got my 2001 Pro38 DC that I got to build the first time I was at the factory... As you can guess it has some sentimental value to me...

WOW, 40 bows!!!! That sucks[:@] BowTech has been hit pretty hard with the theft from last year or whenever it was. Was that at Redding?? I hope the police can get some leads and catch the idiots that did this! I'll keep a watch out also.

One or two bows people could probably slide, but 40 of 'em, with serial number and one-of-a-kinds, well that will be much easier for the goons to slip up.

Check your local flea markets, auctions, and even yard sales, along with classifieds and want advertisers if you have those out your way. You have plenty of people keeping an eye out on e-bay and Archery classifieds on the net, and the theives would have to be real stupid to go there IMO. If they didn't touch anything but the bows, I have to agree with others that it was probably an "inside job" by someone you know pretty well. I had 2 bows stole last year and they caught the scum 2 days later but never did get my bows back. SH_T head sold them to another junkie. He broke into something like 20 rigs that night and only got 3 months in the county jail. BUT I have the dirt bags name and this is a small town so eventually I will run into him, a little redneck justice will be allot of fun!;)

I'll keep my eyes and ears open. If I hear of anyone selling BowTech's that they say fell off the truck, I'll let you know. I live in Northeastern PA, Poconos.

Sorry to hear about this happening. Unfortunately, there are some shady people out there that do this.

How did they get in and did the police find any prints? Do you have survalance cameras and if not, them you might want to get some. Also, this sounds like an inside job or someone who knew you had these bows there. I would do some checking with the people that work there and make sure they are clean.

Pat! it's not going to be easy for these people or person to unload 40 bow's, so thier going to have some help getting rid of them. There will be a good chance someone that has heard about it might just help you out . Good luck retrieving them and give them a kick in the n--s for us . I'll be looking out for you as well.

My knowledge of this type of situation goes with Matt PA statign that someone knew you had these bows and they were after those and perhaps already had a dealer/pawn shop (s) set up. I'd bet they are out of state by now. The bow hunting community is close knit however, see if you can run the serial #'s through a newsletter reaching venders and pro shops, email them, whatever, because if they get a customer bringing in the bow they can call the police or something.

If you had Mathews . . . you could put a free to good home sign on them and you'd still have em'! :) (sorry couldn't resist)

I will keep a look out - but also suspect it may be someone you know or someone that knows someone you know.

think hard about who knew you kept all those bows and their friends.

40 bows, had to be a large vehical to cart that many away and had to take some time to gather them all up. Is your house secluded, neighbours been any help? I don't think they will get away with this one. Sure hope they were insured.

I appreciate all the help and support folks... Without being too detailed it sure does seem to be someone that knows me but I really have a gut feeling it's one of my sons friends or something along that line...

Anyway, It took me a while to compile this list and I wanted to get the o.k. from the office before I posted the serial numbers and I did so here's some more info that may help us catch the scum.

I'd appreciate you all printing out this list and maybe watching any flea markets, garage sales, gun shows, pawn shops, etc. etc. or even take them to your local dealers and have them get a phone number or name from anyone looking to sell some bows to them as any lead can help the police with this case.

Pat,

If I were you, I would create a list of every person that has been in your house for the last 90 days. I would then include which ones have a truck, with a cap, or a Van since 40 bows would not fit in my Nissan Altima.

Then I would also include anyone that has a farm, with a barn, nice place to store bows. Than I would pay them a friendly visit and see if anyone acts a little out of the ordinary. Don't tell them why you are there.

See if you can get them to show you the inside of the barn, like do you have any new animals you want to show off, cows or horses. If not go inside their house, if possible, and check out their basement. Do this in a friendly manner. Also, best frinds can do things they normally would not do when the farm is about to go under.

If this does not pan out, expand the list to 6 months. Expand the farms to large buildings. They could have also placed them into a Storage facility. See if someone you know has just rented a storage area. I would visit your local facilities and see if anyone on your list just rented one out.

I know this is a lot of work, but unless you start somewhere, you will never see those bows again. You could also hire an ex cop to assist you in your search. Think like, what would I do if I just attained 40 bows, what would you do to sell them off? You might sit on them just until prior to Archery season and then try and sell them. Ask you local hardware store or country store to keep their ears open about anyone trying to sell many used bows.

that really sucks, i agree with matt about it being someone you or family knows, my dads guns were stolen years ago and it turned out that it was a buddy of my brother who did it.
