Thanks for the suggestions fellers, but there is absolutely NOTHING on the market that draws smoother and easier than Hoyt's Accuwheels. Quite a few come close to equalling them, but nothing surpasses them. And yes, I did back off the draw weight to 50 pounds. No difference. It doesn't change the fact I'm holding nearly 6 pounds of metal and pastic out there at arm's length, vs 14 ounces with my longbow and 30 ounces with my recurve.

come on Arthur, you know you just can't get away from compounds...
Hide and watch;)

I mean, what kind of hunter would you be if you didn't have a compound?
Uh.... Traditional, maybe?[8D]:D:D

Nothing wrong with shoot'n traditional , You just cant leave this board for the traditional thread :D , As long as your flinging arrows , do how you want to , forget what everyone else wants you to do . Arthur have you tryed glucosamine ? it does wonders for joint pain .

I would take this opportunity to pick up a new recurve or long bow...wouldn't you?

I hear Mathews came out with a traditional bow this year.....;)

Actually, Frank, Mathews bought Sky Archery is is manufacturing them under the Mathews label now. They're still Sky bows though, and Sky = good.

I won't be buying a new bow, though I am forming some plans to make myself a copy of a Black Widow SA style recurve.

ijimmy, glucosamine is good stuff. Been taking it for 5 years now.

Why does this post say you are quitting? You aren't quitting compounds, you are starting to shoot traditional. One day I'll do this too, when I have more time to practice. I bet you will never look back...

Good Luck Arthur......

Sounds like you will feel right at home shooting that stick:D:D

Whack em dead;)

P.S. - I just made up some plans on how to fit a trophy taker drop away on a recurve if you want to...........:)

arthurp,

I am sorry to hear about your shoulder troubles. Getting rid of the compound shouldn't be an issue for you though. Were you even able to hunt last year with your back problems?

I did get out a few times, SA. Small game, anyway. My back had me down pretty much all of deer season.

Arthur,

I thought I remebered you posting that. Is the back doing any better?

That's a bummer Arthur. Can't say as I blame you though. Gotta be tough shooting through a constant pain.

Hope you'll still hang out here though. I , personally, really value your comments on here and you've taught me a lot.
