OK guys, here's my spill.
I bought an 03 Protec with spiral cams and 65% letoff from a guy over at AT classifieds.
The draw on this bow is 25.5-28.5. The sticker on the bow says its 60-70 lbs limbs.
I set the draw length to 27.5 and I then bottomed the limbs out as far as I could turn them and then backed off 3 full turns of both limbs. I would think this would put me at about 63lbs or so. Well, I took it to the shop and put it to the scale and it said 57 lbs!!! How is this possible with only 3 turns from being bottomed out? Do you think the scales could be wrong or somehow the wrong cams have been put on this bow? Anyway, give me your thoughts. Thanks.
BTW, I have always shot around 65lbs, I it feels like that is about where it is set to me, but scales say otherwise.

In most cases, the poundage rating on the bow is for it's middle draw length setting. You can figure approx 5 pounds of reduced draw weight for every inch below the middle draw length, and approx 5 pounds of increased draw weight for every inch longer than that. In other words, on a bow rated 28-30" in draw length and 60-70 lbs draw weight, that rating is for the 29" length. If you increase it to 30", then the weight range will be 65-75 lbs, and at 28" it will be 55-65 lbs. You need to determine what draw length that bow is rated to the weight it's rated.
Some manufacturers found ways to adjust draw length without affecting draw weight, but not all.

1. Did you actually check the bow when the limbs were bottomed out to seee if it peaked at or above 70 lbs?
2. Some bows actually reduce weight by up to 4 lbs for each equal revolution on bottom and top bolts. With three equal turns that would put you at 58 lbs.
Why don't you peak the bow and check it? If it does peak at 70 then turn the limb bolts once and check it again. See how much it is taking off for each turn.

I did not measure it bottomed out, that may be the problem. I will do that and we shall see. PA, what are your thoughts on what Danny posted, could this be the problem as well?

DC,
Are you sure you have the spiral cams on your bow? The reason I ask is because, though I have no experience with the 2004 Spiral cams, I did have a 2003 Supertec. The cams were not adjustable for draw length unless you adjusted the percentage of letoff as well. Did they change that in 2004?

PA, I thought I had cam and 1/2 but when I took it to the pro shop they told me I had spiral cams. The draw is definitely adjustable. It also has the 65% letoff module, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I will tell you this, the cam is much smaller than the typical cam and 1/2, but that could be due to the size (25.5 - 28.5).
I will post pics tonight for all to see and determine what exactly I have.
