Default Who makes their own feather fletching

Anyone make their own using wild tukey feathers, if so which feathers do you use. How hard is it to cut and grind them? I think it would be great to try and use as much home made stuff as you can. Also made a ghillie suit and now tring to make a turkey box call.

Your in the wrong place, try leatherwall, or trad gang.

I've made my own feathers, I use a young feather burner. A buddy uses the little choper thing. There are jigs for rigging the grinding, or you can plane it. In the olden days they sometimes peeled it. so the feather was attached to the quill surface, and nothing else. Very low profile.
