PSE Not mentioned?
I was about to buy a new PSE Venom when I started reading this message board and realized no one ever mentions PSE? Is it because Bowtech and Mathews, Hoyt, etc., so much better? or does PSE make that bad a Bow. I'm a new guy and have been gathering info on which bow to make my first. I thought that I was impressed with the PSE, but possibly I need to look around more. Comments anyone?
thanks

Bill,
I probably speak for most when I say that it is important to shoot as many bows as you can when purchasing a new one. A bow that feels good to me may fell horrible to you. And vice versa. Go to a couple of different proshops in your area and give em a test drive. I think PSE makes a quality product, as I have owned 2 of them. But I also think most manufactures probably make a bow that would fit the bill. Try as many as you can!

Pse's are as good as anybody elses. You will find brand preferences here just like anywhere else. For instance, Matthews spends a lot on advertising....kind of like McDonalds....so everybody goes there!
Buy what fits you and what you can shoot best. I have a PSE and a Parker myself.

PSE has a forum and most of the posters in that forum, shoot PSE. People who shoot particular bows, tend to congregate in the same forums. I guess misery loves company.
There is very little difference in manufacturing quality among companies. On the high end bows, most use machined aluminum risers covered with a film dip, high quality glass limbs or a glass/carbon composite. They have bearings and hardened axels. Cams have no difference in quality, just difference in design. The biggest difference seems to be in the method of connecting the limbs to the limb pockts. Once again, this is a design thing, not a quality issue and there are several good methods being used. Strings are unimportant because they don't last long and most serious shooters replace them with a custom string anyway.
One thing to keep in mind, is that they will all put an arrow where it's pointed, if you do your part. Choose according to what feels good to you, knowing that it really won't make any significant difference in how you shoot, no matter which company you go with. I always recommend people choose based on who has the best bow shop with the best service. A great shop can make a real difference in how well you shoot, if they get you the exact correct draw length and tune it properly. Most shops fall short in these areas, so choose wisely. Good luck and welcome to the fourm.

HI,
PSE makes a good quality bow and they have many loyal followers--like mentioned earlier, certain message boards seem to favor certain brands(misery does love company!)--I shoot MATHEWS and still hang around in here--why?I must be a glutton for punishment!

Yeah PSE doesn't get much mention around here. It's not that they are bad, they are not. It's just that the majority of the folks here use what you mentioned. They are the most popular among the upper end bows. Actually MOST other brands don't get much mention here either, again...doesn't mean they are bad. I've shot PSE for years and never been let down. Good advice from Straightarrow. And definitely pop in to the forum on the pse website (www.pse-archery.com) if you want alot of PSE info. Good luck

This subject has actually come up quite a few times on the various forums I frequent. What I most often see in folks responding is that they do not feel that PSE offers as many major innovations as some of the other companies. They continue to refine their product but people fail to notice that. I think PSE makes some very good bows...especially their high end models...and find that they are sometimes overlooked.
