I shot a new 04 Bowtech Patriot SC and a Justice today at my dealer I noticed that my 4" vanes were touching the cables after we adjusted the center shot. I was shooting a Quicktune 3000 arrowrest with cock feather down. I asked the dealer about this and he said that he was meaning to call Bowtech about that problem. All the new models he got in were like this. He said he could put a different cable slide on it and take care of the problem. It seems Bowtech would have noticed this when producing the bows. Anyone else having this problem?

I have been shooting the new Liberty and the Justice, I haven't had that trouble on either of them and haven't heard of anyone else having that maybe Matt or Pat will see your post and give their ideas.

I have been complaining about this problem since the first time I shot a Bowtech last year.
ALL the BT bows I have shot have this problem.
Their cable slides do not pull the cables in enough and I do not understand why they have to do this?????????? anyone??
Buy a sims slide and it will be correct

I am a bit confused with this one. I have owned four Bowtech bows over the last three model years. None of them has exhibited a fletching clearance problem with the cables. I use 3, 4 inch plastic AAE or Bohning vanes with a straight fletch setting.
Are you guys using a higher profile vane or feather?....what is your centershot measurement? Is it possible that some of the bows had the cable guard rod hole in the riser machined at the wrong angle?

Never really been an issue for me either EXCEPT shooting 5" feathers with the big profile. With a drop-away I can rotate them to an almost cock feather side-ways position and they clear fine. W/ a conventional rest though they do rub (and they did on my Hoyt CyberTec as well)
I've shot all sorts of carbons, even some alums...Right helical, left helical, straight fletch, 4" vanes, 4" feathers, 5" vanes, cock feather up, cock feather down...I have not really had a problem that I can remmeber except with those 5" feathers.
You have to be careful w/ some aftermarket cable slides because they will cause too much side load on the shorter bows.
the 2004 bows c-shot is pretty far out...starts at about 7/8" and goes a little further depending on the indvidual bow. I would check that if there is a problem.

I shoot 5 inch vanes on my hunting arrows with a Plainsman drop away with one vane pointing straight down. This set up is on my '03 Patriot Dually and there is no problem with the vanes clearing the cables.

I'm hitting the cable if the cock feather is pointed straight down. Good thing I'm shooting a drop away and I can orient the cock feather pointing out. It clears this way.
Of course I am using 5" shield cut feathers, so I can't complain too much. It just barely nips the cable.

The closer the cabel is to the string the less cabelgaurd toqure , the father away from the string ,you get more toqure . I'm sure bowtech figured this and and sent them as close as resonable , they probably made it too close . A new slide like a simms teflon "may" fix the problem , if it does not an offset cabelrod rotated to the proper distance will . For the amount of money you pay for a bowtech I would try to get them to suply the fix . Like I've said before its not if but when these things will happen , now its up to bowtech to make its customers happy by fixing the existing "problem" . They had it before in 02 with the risors drilled in the wrong spot , and sent out a quick fix , and were happy to do it , I suspect they will take care of this in the same manor , as I have allways found them egar to please , unlike some other companies = M------

Anyone got a digital camera they can take pics of this phenomena and send to me or post? I checked my 2002 Pat SC, my ExVFT (2003), my Liberty and the demo MM VFT I have and they are fine..but I'm curious
Also you may try making sure that the cable guard is seated all the way (loosen the locking screw, loosen the set screw..see if the guard is properly seated , then tighten back up)
