This may be a really dumb question...

Default This may be a really dumb question...

This year for some reason when I shoot my bow the string hits the upper corner of my lip. It hits or rubs when I release the arrow, and it hits so hard it rubs it raw and scabs the next day. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why. The only difference in my setup is that I had a new sight installed. I' m assuming it is operator error, but do not know why. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You ain' t holding your mouth right!

Sorry...had to say it. [:-]

Anyhow, sounds to me like you may have changed something, or it could be a combination of things. Are you anchoring the same? Maybe your string has stretched a little...or maybe your draw is too long. ?? Hard to say for sure without some more info, or being there. One thing for sure...you need to get it straightened out. That would not be much fun.

Try moveing your peep and sights so that your lip is below the string.

gutpile2, it sounds to me like your kisser is turned so that the opening in it is towards your face. If it is, the open edge where it slips over the string is catching you in the lip.

I have not used a kisser for over 10 years, but I remember that lesson clearly!

Make sure the opening is turned away from your face when you come to full draw.

If that doesn`t do it, I think WV Hunter may be right.

Sounds to me that your lips are too big. Did you mouth off to the misses and she poped you one?[]

Like Big Country said though, I had the same thing happen when I used to use a kisser. Like your peep, make sure that it is coming back with the slit away from you.
