The Cam Traker is second to none. We've compared to many photos from "cheaper" units and there is no comparison. Heck, alot of these cheaper cameras on the market don't even use a passive infared motion detector and instead they just use a regular motion detector so all people end up getting is 24 pics of blowing trees and grass. The selectable modes of operation on the Cam Traker are also very nice. You can pay less for other units, but thats allyou end up with is a CHEAPER UNIT !!!

I just finished making one from Jesse's instructions, and it seems to work great. I used the Owl PF Date, the Radio Shack PIR with Tinhorn's mods available on the message board instead of Jesse's. His mod for the RS PIR drops current draw to 80 uA with a 30 second delay following the shot. It was a lot of fun to build, and I have about $120 into it. Can't wait to get it outside. If you have any questions, my solder iron is still out. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I am in the process of building my own with the help of Jesse's web pages. Cant see spending 300 for something I can build for 120-150. Also, even if I dont get "quality pics" that is ok. I am using to find out what trails the deer are using, not to get publishable pictures. I can do that with my Canon Rebel.

I built two from all the great advice on Jesse's Website. The tough thing now is getting a good buy on a Canon Owl Date camera. And, yes, the PF is the best to use if you can find one. It is always fun to build your own and save a few bucks.
