Been shooting a bow a long time, killed a few deer, afew hogs,and a few other bigger animals. The point i am making is that bullet holes in archery do not kill animals, Bullet holes with guns kill animals. I stopped paper tuning a long, long, long time ago. Like someone else said watch the flight of your arrow it will tell you what you need to do to tune your bow. We all need to stop making archery complicated an start back enjoying shooting and enjoy our bows. Just my 2 cents worth.

I understand what you are saying. But, am I wrong in believing that if I am getting improper flight in an arrow, that paper tuning will let me know what is wrong assuming that it is not clearence, tiller, or the like and will give me a starting point in which to tune by. An eleven o-clock tear will need a different adjustment then a four o-clock tear won' t it. How can just looking at the arrow flight give you the same type of tell tale starting point that a paper tear will? To me, a paper tear is not as complicated as seeing a bad arrow flight by eye and not knowing where to start.

In a way i agree with both of you, paper tear will give you a starting point granted.I have had great paper tears, don' t like to call them bullet holes, and then go outside and shoot and the arrow looks like a porpoise going toward the target.Why did this happen after shooting a perfect paper tear? I was not able to answer my own question and that bothered me. So i went back to basics, got my center shot right, height adjustment or nock point right, checked tiller, have right shaft, and guess what? 9 out of 10 times arrow flight is great. And the other gentleman is also correct, it is hard to see an arrow going 300 ft. per. sec. at 20 or 30 yds. but at 40,45,50,60 yds. it gets easier. Granted you may not be accurate at that distance but you can see the arrow flight.
