Default Bow noise after installing peep

I ditched the peep with rubber tubing last week for just a plain 3/16" peep on the string.

After doing this I noticed my string has more of a "twang" sound to it when shooting. I installed some new cat whiskers on it this morning and tried it out and didn't seem to help much if any.

I am sure I can live with it as long as its won't hurt anything.

Thanks for any help

Rubber tubing will eat up a lot of the vibe from a string, and it weighs quite a bit. You lose quite a bit of speed, but sometimes the stealth advantage is nice. I'd rather not have a tube to break and dry rot and so forth, so I think you made a great move.

Cat Whiskers should have done the trick. I use them myself and nothing works better for the minimal price they have. An STS or other type string stop works wonders also, but they carry a heavier bill also, and you need to monkey with them a bit to get them just so. Not a big deal, just something to be aware of.

Are you 100% sure that its just string vibe and not something else on the bow? Quiver bracket and sight fastners are notorious offenders.

Push comes to shove and you can't figure it out... I'm at Wilcox in Newport News... carry it by I'll be happy to put the whop chuey on it.

Thanks for the info. I checked the sights, rest, and quiver bracket and they are all tight. What about location of the whiskers? I placed them close to where the stock string leeches where at. The whiskers are about 2 inches from the cam and the wheel.

Might have to stop by and check you out. I will be at Gloucester Point this afternoon for a friends birthday. But I do make it down that way every so often to visit family, and go watch the Admirals hockey games.
