Default Walk Back Tuning Help??

Ok here it goes.....

I am shooting from 10-20-30-40....all shots with 20 yard pin...

Rage Broadheads:
10- Dead Center (a touch high)
20- A Tad Left maybe 1/4"
30-4" Low---- 2" Left
40- 10" Low----3"+ Left

Slick Tricks 100Grn Magnum:
10-Dead Center
20-Low 2"----Right 2"
30-Low 12"-----Right 4"
40- I am not even going to attempt it??

It seems that no matter what I do wiht Rages I cant get them consisantly shooting dead on! Which way do I need to move the rest to get a happy medium? Is there something I am missing??

I am shooting a Martin Jaguar Magnum 28 1/2" draw 29" FMJ 340 Arrow with 100Grn Heads at 66lbs!!
Let me know whatcha think?

It could EASILY be a tourqing(sp!) issue as the level on my sight is no where near being center as it just feels unnatural, I feel like I am really tourqing the bow????

Don't walk back with broadheads, you will pull your hair out.Do it with field points.

Your spine should be fine.

I will group tune after that with a target setup but no reason you can't just move to broadhead tuning.

Straight from the Easton tuning guide.

Yep, switch to FP's. I've gotten away from doing the 10,20,30,40 thing and just shoot 10 and 40 anymore. I might shoot 10-30 the first time just to be sure I'm close.

The other thing you probably need to do is decide which broadhead you are going to shoot and stick with it.

Why exactly Dan and Todd are suggesting not to walk back with broadheads.... I'm not sure? But coming from them I'd be inclined to blindly agree. Personally I have always walk backed with FPs.... then walked back with BHs and had my groups hit together. I can tell you though that it is largely luck to have a FP, a long ferreled mech and a fixed blade all group together..... most of the people that claim this are either liars or bad enough shots that their 6" groups at 20 yards make them true prophets of bow tuning. Thats not the case with Dan or Todd of course, but when some redneck jumps on the net and talks about how great he is.... well.... draw your own conclusions.

Once you have determined centershot with fieldpoints,it might be OK to walk back with broadheads BUT,broadheads enter into the equation so much of their own problems that walk backing from the beginning might drive you insane. That is why I would go to broadhead tuning(fix and or/eliminate those problems) and then if you want,do a walk back after you are done.

Thanks guys! I tell ya the only reason I am even messing with the Fixed Heads are as a back up in case I need a follow up shot or for Coyote, Fox, Etc....

I am not expecting to get "exact" Field Point accuracy from them but am hoping to get it close enough for such an occasion? Its goofy because lastyear my Slick Tricks flew very similiar with my F-tips but I have changed everything on my set-up wince then though!! I will get it I do believe I was just hoping someone would post such info like you guys have to help me along!!

I will let ya's know how I fair tommorow!!

Thanks!!

Ok well I went back out tonight and shot! I am now shooting as so....
10,20,30,40yrds

Field Tips:
10- 1"High
20-1/4" High
30-3" Low and a Hair Maybe 1/8" Right if that
40- 8-9" Low and also maybe 1/4" Right if that

and for those going "How can he tell an 1/8" difference".. if you fling enough arrows at the target it really does become evident of exactly where you are hitting, this is where the whole group shooting comes in handy!! It is key I believe to truely tuning your bow, but I do not have the courage to keep slapping arrows together!! I cringe everytime I hear that noise!!!

I'll be completely honest I did not move a thing, and figured I could get it closer at the 30-40yrds but I am completely happy with that little bit of change at those distances! I know it is probably not "the right thing to do" but I figured I couldnt even move the rest as small of an increment as I probably would need too!? I MAY try to get the change tommorow, but I am still not sure if it will give me the change I need anyhow??

Rage Broadheads:
10- 1/2" high
20- Dead Center
30- Same as Field tip
40- The best I can tell is about an 1/8" more right then the field tip!

Disclaimer: I have NO INTENTION of attempting a shot past 25yrds with a broadhead this year let alone 40 so I should be just fine with this set-up?!!

Slick Tricks:
10- Dead Center
20- 3" Low----1 1/4" Right
30-?
40?

I was starting to get shaky with my shooting and decided to give it a rest for the night! Ill play some more tommorow..!!

I will let you know how I am shooting tommorow!!

Also I am completely tickled as I was grouping arrows together tonight better then I have all year, it all kind of came together for me and it all felt great, the draw, the anchor, the release, the shot, everything was good!!!

So go ahead and move to broadhead tuning and I bet you will need to move the rest about a 1/32" to get them with fieldpoints. This is where a rest with fine micro adjustment comes in handy.Yet another reason I love the Whammy.
