ORIGINAL: muzzyman88

JeffB, depending on the year of the Allegiance, the mods are a different color. I'm not totally sure about the 08's, but the 07's were a different color depending on the type. Smooth mods were black, speed was silver. I know the cams on the 08's were totally black.
Y'know- I wanna say the cams were grey, but I may just be imagining it- they could be black too. I didn't pay enough attention.

I'll check it out again next time I'm up there.

Ok so the nitrous does not have the same cams as the Marquis(which I beleive are the Pinnacle5 cams-- correct me if I'm wrong). Does it use the same cams as the Black Ice?

I've not seen the BI in person, however the cam on the Nitrous looks nothing like the BI cam pictured on the Diamond website.

The cam on the Nitrous looks *kind of* like the Pinnacle cam on the Marquis, but def is not the same.

I shot some more bows last night-

The Allegiance is a 2008 model w/ black cams. Very similar to the GT500, a little more vibration in the riser, but quieter and touch less recoil (and it had no string suppressor either). I'd say it was the smoother shooting bow, but the GT500 has got about 10-15 FPS on it apples to apples (BC read 311 on the Alley).

The Alley set up with a rest and drawing with a release aid actually was smoother through transitions than the SWAT which was weird, cos by hand the Alley felt tougher- I think there is a bit of torque going on with SWAT that makes it feel that way with a release. That said they ar eboth smooth drawing for Binary cams. The Alley also had less recoil and just a touch of vibe in the riser. Very nice considering it was a bare bow. The SWAT had a bit more thump and buzz-not huge, but it was there.

The difference between these "normal riser" bows and the CP riser bows though is quite large- I shot the Captain along with the SWAT, Alley, and a Sniper and the latter 3 are just not in the same league as the former for shot noise and dead feel in the hand.

I shot the (2009) 82nd again against the Xforce (2008), god the last few inches of the 82nd are laughable, I cannot imagine who at the factory said "yeah- thats approved for release to the public" but that valley and hold is amazing- rock solid- It was also apples apples (well the PSE was 3/4" long but 29/70 to 29/70) quieter and had less vibe/recoil. The Xforce had a nice lower/bassy toned "thhhmmmp" though. I think thats what makes it appear to sound louder, and it did not have any silencers on the string or a supressor- so it would probably be as quiet as the 82nd if setup properly. The vibe was there though-noticable ringing in the hand (and the cams were properly synched and rotated) I cannot stand the draw of the X-force or the super teeny valley but at least you hit peak right away- those cams on the 82nd are awful- I hope the Air Raids cam are not the same (they look similar).

That said, I really liked the steadiness, hold, and shot feel of the 82nd. I'd like to have one in a lower poundage just to have a speed demon around- but as my "one bow"? No way.

I shot the PSE Mossy Oak (2008) model? I liked the valley on the cams- held nice- the rest?? heh...lets not go there.

PSE Firestorm X- this is one of those 28" A2A single cams- Man after all those Hybrids and Binaries this thing was like drawing a wheel bow. SUPER Smooth.and a nice long sight window (More than the Admiral). Held really well. No torque, def could tell it would be a shooter. Quiet, very little recoil or shock bare-bow. Very fun little bow, but way too little string angle for me (can't get my nose down on the string without touching my chin to my chest

Martin Cheetah with some kind of single cam- I'm assuming this is a 2008. I did not chrono this bow, but yikes I could tell this thing was def not up to par performance wise. I'd be surprised if IBOs anywhere near 290 FPS. Not that speed is the final word- but the bow wasn't all that quiet, recoil, or vibration free either. To be fair it's a $400 bow- You'll def want to invest in plenty o' Sims gear. If you are on a budget, the BowTech SNIPER will be a much better choice for not a whole lot more $.

The SNIPER- I actually really liked- the old school non pivoting pockets are kind of a drag but the pockets on my 2002 Patriot didn't pivot either! The accessory kit is cheap cheap cheap, and IMO does a disservice to the bow- makes the bow look cheaper than it is- the Sniper has the same cam as the SWAT but for me held/locked in better. The grip is narrow,a touch deeper and more squared off than a typical BT grip, but I thought it was pretty comfy. The bow had roughly the same noise/recoil levels as the SWAT with a touch more vibration- which frankly was probably the junk accessories vibrating around.

Feedback to BowTech-drop the junky accessory package and lay off the camo'ed cable guard rods-on all the Diamonds and the SWAT/Sniper at the shop, there is major friction/hysteresis- not smooth travel at all. HCA did this in the early to mid 90s and gave up (Partly cos the film dip was worse then, and mostly cos the slides would not travel freely)

Overall best bow award of the evening? Captain, with the Allegiance in second place.
