I have a new toy...

I was at my shop last night shooting and after about a half hour, had several Blazer Vanes blow off arrows. I've been having all sorts of issues for a while now with these things sticking and quite honestly, am sick of it and am switching to something else. Well, my shop gave me a brand new pack of Fusion vanes to try out.
I went home last night and immediately fletched up one arrow with them to see how they'll work/look. The bases are very soft and cupped and are almost too easy to get to lay down on the shaft. The blade itself is just as stiff as the Blazers. I did a pliars test after putting the first fletch on and you'll rip the vane or break the shaft before getting them to come off. The clear base also looks very cool once glued up.
I haven't shot them yet but will keep everyone posted. They look very promising.

Think I may try a few Fusions, but I don't understand why some people are having problems getting the Blazers to adhere. I have never had one Blazer vane ever come off while shooting or hunting. I use the 90% alcohol to wipe the shaft and gently wipe the Blazer base with it also. After drying I use Fletchtite Platinum. Never had any problems.

Not truly knowing how to clean arrows and fletching is the biggest reason so many have problems. Many swear by acetone but it leaves a residue that must be cleaned off before fletching.
I am a flex fletch guy myself,or atleast I have been in the past and those things take some tedious cleaning to get them to adhere properly. Many have learned how to fletch with some of the vanes that have an accelerator on them and have really never learned how to properly prep an arrow or fletch.
You MUST clean residue offthe base of the vane and the arrow. All it really takes is water.
I also use platinum fletchtite glue.
Not sure what Muzzy's problem was but I have seen this as an issue for many.

Guys, no matter what I've tried, I can't get these things to stick. I've tried it all. I have never had any issue with a single vane until the Blazers. Though, I suspect I might have a bad batch of them. Any other fletching I've used over the years I couldn't pull off with pliers. These things fall off on their own.
I'm excited about these fusion vanes. The bases on them are awesome.

Fusions seem good, I recently fletched some myself. The biggest issue with Blazers (at least this is what everyone seems to believe is the main prob) the newer version has aflat base, thus making it hard to contour to the shaft well, and worse on helical. Fusions have a sweet cup to their base, I believe they will become a staple if the do as well as they appear they will.I haven't been able to shoot mine yet, will try them out soon.
I am new to carbons and fletching them, but I've been fletching alums forever. I use acetone and fletchtite prem, never had an issue. We'll see how they do on the carbons. [8D]

Just wipe the shaft down with water before fletching and the residue will be gone and the vanes will stick forever.
This is especially true when using a cyanoacrylate adhesive(super glue types) for fletching.

I've Never had any problems with Blazer vanes sticking on arrows I've fletched.
I think cleaning is a Major. I use Denatured Alcohol and glue them on with Fletch Tite Platinum. Very Good results!
