Jeff, invest in a Viper D-Loop pliers and you'll get some 'tweet tiny d-Loops'.

Jeff,

Glad to see you are happy with the bow. I have yet to chrono any of my new bows but now you have me interested in giving each one a go to see how they perform.

Other than the draw cycle is there anything else you find objectionable about it.

Keith- I believe thats what Tommy at the shop used-crazy looking thing. Works well. The loop is a little long to look at but the draw length is fine. I felt a little bit cramped up with the smaller loop I had on it initially and my Tru-Ball Short & Sweet. as I said, maybe over time I'll get that brass nock off and "clean up" the knots, but for now it works fine, and I'm happier than a pig in you know what with the performance. Getting 4-6 more FPS would just be obnoxious bragging

Frank- Nothing objectionable as of yet- I don't have a ton of arrows on it- I have a couple of nitpicks though-nothing to make me regret the purchase, just little annoyances.

1) As mentioned in the lefty admiral thread, the draw stop screw needs to be replaced- it's going to be way too easy to strip that screw head.

2) I think the multitude of miniscule/hard to see timing dots is a bit much- My eyes are not what they used to be I have a really hard time checking them- Half the number of dots and bigger would work just fine.

3) The grip could/should be squared off a bit more- it is a bit more difficult to repeat your grip by feel because it is rounded off.

4) Cable clearance is a little tight with blazers and I can see the edge of the cables in my sight picture

Nothing major- #s 1 & 3 are the biggest "issues" IMO.

I couldn't agree more.

Jeff, I shot my Captain a little more today, many similarities to the Admiral, but with a tad more A to A. I Love the way this thing shoots.

Haven't got serious with tuning, checking speed, etc.yet, but as much as I liked the Guardian (it was my go to Bow in 07) I think I like the Captain better.

Now if my Sentinel, and Air Raid come in I'll have a tough road to figure out who gets starting privledges this spring and fall.

Jeff, you nailed most of the 'negs' 100%. Especially the grip. I took a sander to mine, using 800 grit sandpaper and polished the grip to the point the back is almost 'flat'. She nowsits well in the palm, soild andvery littleside to side movement.

Regarding the loop, you can get a solid 'tight' smallloop with the d-loop pliers if you use the BCY # 24 Poly.
On the other hand, the Paradox 2.5 nylon round braid and the Gibbs Super loop material stretches too much before it tightens to the string, thus elongating into a U-loop instead of a D-loop.
But I do understand your concern with the claws of the release. I shoot with the Scott NSC wildcat, quite a tiny release head, so my d-loops are no more than 3/8"...just enough to easily slip behind the nock and inside of the loop with a hair or two clearance.

Jeff, there is a company, www.torqueless.com that makes really nice replacement grips for Bowtechs. I put one on my 06 Tribute and love it. It has a nice flat surface vs. the rounded stock one. I think you would really like this grip. Made all the difference in the world to me.

TFOX -indeed. Coming off the GT-500 which is so easily repeatable and comfy it's taking a little to get used to.

Dan- I really wanted that brace height of the Admiral (for hunting), that and it drew a tad smoother. I think the Captain may have actually been more quiet apples to apples- If the Captain had more brace height I would have gone with it depite the little bit stiffer back end. regardless- I'm very happy with the Admiral!

Keith- how do you like that wildcat? I saw that at the shop- looked interesting.

Shane- thanks for that link! - I'm def gonna check into that if only for curiosities sake.

It is kinda interesting that when Hoyt came out with the cam 1/2 in 03,the Ultratec and most of their bows had a radius on the back of the grip(very similar to Bt).I had some really good days with that bow but it was really hard to stay consistant with that grip.Seems like I heard that the Hoyt pro staff threw a fit about the grip and they changed them the following year and they haven't changed it since.Even on the hunting bows with wood grips. If you remove the grip,it is the same flat grip.

I like the trigger design so as to gain some DL, the smallhead and the NCS system with the velcro wrist band. I'm not for the buckle strap.
Just one down side, when ascending a climbing stick the release head tends to contact the stick, that as youknow sounds an ugly alarm, so prior to getting in and out my stand I secure the release head with a rubber band. I hate a metalic soundin the woods, very unusual. Stepping on a twig isn't life or death, the deer themselves do that, but man a ring from metal on metal give me goose bumps.[:@]
