ORIGINAL: bigcountry A bow is not tuned until you can hit where you need too. And no matter what anyone says, no one can totally tune your bow. They can get it close, but one needs to account for thier form too. And paper is just the starting point as Bruce pointed out. See if how it broadhead tunes out to 50-60 yards. There is no reason other than form that the arrow POI is not moving with sight changes. Think about it this way, would your POI move if you held 1ft High? Sure would not matter how bad tune it is. A paper setup is easy to make, I highly suggest it. ONly hard part is stopping that arrow. I seem to wear out range bags every year and every once in a while, I hit it hit the wall behind my garage. |

wow i just read all the responses, haha i had a bad choice of words... i was following the arrow with my sight, in hope that it would bring my arrows UP. it did, just not enough

One thing I don't think anyone mentioned was that someone else papertuned your bow. It might be close for you, but in my experience, the bow will shoot different through paper for you than it did the other guy. You hold the bow different and put different pressure on the handle than the other guy does and will usually cause a different type of tear.

Paper tuning is just a very basic start. Actually it's so basic that I eyeball the set-up and skip paper tuning all together to move on to bare shaft tuning. Once I have bare shafts hitting with fletched shafts out to 30 or 40 yards I'll screw on a couple broadheads to broadhead tune but I haven't had to touch anything on any rig I've bare shaft tuned. Broadheads drop right in the same holes as FP's but it's still good to check and be sure.

Take some BH's, you pick the brand, make sure they spin TRUE on your arrows and follow those instructions for BH tuning in the link provided, and in the end, your bow will be pretty well tuned.
