Default What arrows?

Hey guys, i'm buying a bow for my girlfriend for christmas and am curious as to what size arrows and what weight of broadhead i should set it up with.

The bow will be a 40-50lb bow and she will most likely have a 23-25" draw length

Any suggestions?

She'd probably be OK with anything in a 500 spine, depending on the draw weight itself. Maybe even a 600 spine. As for broadheads? Why are you concerned about broadheads at this point? Lots of time to think about them later. As for tip weight? Anything from about 85 to 100 grains.

I would agree that you're going to get good bang for the buck out of a Beman shaft. I would however recommend getting the total weight up and for that I'd say a 125 grain head is going to both add weight and increase the FOC for better penetration at her lower draw weight. Lancaster has some pre-Nano Axis or SuperSlim shafts on sale in the .500 spine right now. http://www.lancasterarchery.com/inde...th=38_79_65_88

+1, also may help weaken the spine if you find the arrows you need seem to be a little overspined, which I think will be likely.

My gf uses the Beaman ics hunter jr. arrows with her diamond edge which is at 24" and 40# draw. They shoot great and are cheap.

My motto when it comes to bows for kids and girlfriends is this:

If you can't be fast... then be heavy....

Traditional shooters subscribe to the same line of thought. You are going to have to get pretty close no matter what... and even though lots of people THINK a 300fps bow will get to a deer before he can load his legs to bound away... they are mistaking.

Rebecca (my lady) shoots Hoyt Trykon, 26" draw at 42#s. She uses Axis FMJ 500s and 125gr heads. Arrows fly like darts.
