RE: new arrows? need help

They don't make RH Supremes anymore... they are supreme lights now.

you can get them with blazers.

The ones you have look in OK shape... maybe consider getting them refletched?

A Lumenock for a Super nock or the lumenock standard lighted arrow nock will work in the arrows you have now.

The 250 is how carbon express labels their arrows for spine. The 250's spine rating is .390.

Yes, and it probably is from your whisker bicuit. you are barking up the right tree by considering blazers, they hold up better through a WB.

what does the 250 mean?
As archer explained, 250 is the arbitrary number assigned to that particular model of arrow to reflect a deflection of .390.

can i buy kits to refletch my arrows?
yes you can. In fact, there are several good choices that don't require anything more than a pot of hot water to adhere new vanes to your shafts. Quickfletch (by NAP) and extreme archery both have products that will suit your needs. You can if you choose purchase a fletching jig, but thats a more complicated deal.

Honestly I can't say. There is so little information given about them. You need to know what spine/stiffness you'll need. What # are you shooting, what is your draw length? That company selling those arrows doesn't know the difference between the model and maker of the arrows, I would consider purchasing arrows through a reputable dealer. If you select the wrong spine of arrow, you can have pretty poor flight and results. In extreme cases of too weak a spine, you could even put an arrow through your arm... I say this because this ALMOST happened to me when I was young and dumb and bought arrows at wal-mart. (I shot 30-50 thunderstorms arrows at 28" off my hoyt ultra tec at 29.5" draw and 73#s... I killed 6 deer with one of those things... and never had it break... I got extremely lucky.... they sure were fast though.....;)

here is another link to a site about the arrows
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=424117

will you look on this website here and reccommend anything?
http://www.huntersfriend.com/2007-Carbon-Arrows/carbon-arrows-main-list.htm

(what do the numbers mean after availability mean?)

Black Stick 11-17-2008 12:37 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

Of those on the list, I liked the Carbon Force Black Mamba and the Carbon Force Predator. Both have a consistency of ±.003, which is twice as consistent as the Gold Tips you found on Amazon.com. For a similar price, you can get Carbon Xpress Maximas, which are the same consistency as the Carbon Forces I recommended. I think you should consider Carbon Xpress in addition to these. The only advantage you get out of the ones on Amazon is the price. You cannot buy a dozen new complete arrows at a pro shop for that price.

RE: new arrows? need help

what about the beemans? i am probably going to go to bass pro and look at arrows becasuei bought my bow there and they were helpful.
can i get any arrows for my lights out?
what do you think of the easton epics?

(sorry about ALL the questions i jsut want to make a good choice in buying these)

Black Stick 11-17-2008 07:20 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

The Beman ICS Hunters are good, but you get a lot more feature with the CX Maximas. The Easton Epics are also good, but I still like the CX Maximas better and they are just about the same price.

RE: new arrows? need help

No you can't get just any arrow. You have to match the spine to the specs you are shooting. So here I will give you an example: This is the link to the Gold Tip spine chart (http://www.huntersfriend.com/arrowhelp/gold-tip-arrow-spine-chart.htm), one you open the page you see several different charts, so say you are using a 100gr Field Points and Broadheads, so on that chart you follow the columns. So in your case shooting a 100 gr point at 60# at 28' draw(i am going to guestimate a 29 inch arrow). As you can see gold tip recommends you use a 5575 or 400 spine. Lets try it again with my bow specs -- i have have a 31 inch arrow shooting 68# w/ 100 grain points -- I need 7595 which might be just a tad overspined. On that hunters fiend site you can look at all the different kind of arrows they sell and each brand will have a spine chart where you can look up what they recommend for you. Hope this helped

Having correctly spined arrows is extremely important.

oh ok i see thanks
do they have those charts for every different brand of arrows? and would they have that at bass pro?

Black Stick 11-17-2008 08:08 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

Yes, usually they put them on every box of arrows. All the charts have the same information to consider (arrow length, and draw weight).

Black Stick 11-18-2008 08:41 AM

RE: new arrows? need help

I went onto bassproshops.com to look for arrows for you.
On the high end: I see that they are selling a dozen CX Maximas with blazers for $129.99, which have a straightness of .0025. Pretty darn good. However, I thought that I would also point out that the CX Maxima 3D Selects are also $129.99, which have a straightness of .001, but you will need to pay them to fletch them, should be $2-$3 per arrow for vanes. Feathers are a little more.

Mid range: The Beaman ICS CamoHunters with Blazers are $94.99 a dozen and have a straightness of .003.

I would not recommend anything lower than this.

FSUBIGMAC 11-18-2008 10:15 AM

RE: new arrows? need help

I personally shoot Gold Tip XT Hunters -- a decent arrow -- great for hunting. They are relatively cheap for a mid grade arrow -- .003 straightness tolerance. I think i got mine on huntersfriend for $63 fo a dozen unfletched. After I got them wrapped and fletched by my own guy I have about $85 in them.

Black Stick 11-18-2008 11:06 AM

RE: new arrows? need help

Are you sure that that wasn't for 6 and not 12?

FSUBIGMAC 11-18-2008 12:26 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

No that was for a dozen man -- bare shaft. I have a guy that Fletches my arrows for me to my desire. I wish I had more money I would buy about 3 more dozen at that price -- 63 on Hun.Friend .... 78elsewhere

Black Stick 11-18-2008 12:32 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

That is a great price, but you do get a lot more with the CX Maximas.

FSUBIGMAC 11-18-2008 12:35 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

I'm sure -- actually looking at the Maximas as we speak. But unless you wanna pay my student loan bills the GT's are about as much as I can afford HAHA

RE: new arrows? need help

yeah those beaman ICS camohunters look nice but real expensive. i will try and persuade my parents to let me get them. are there any other arrows that are pretty good but less expensive? becasue i know im going to loose some arrows.
are the beman team realtrees good? thwey are same price as the ICS camo hunters

FSUBIGMAC 11-18-2008 04:33 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

Makes sure whatever arrow you pick says .003 spine or .001 spine tolerance -- you want these because they are straighter arrow. If you really want cheap but a good quality -- Easton Aluminum. There is nothing wrong with aluminum and they would be a lot cheaper to lose. Aluminums are also known for a near perfect spine which means your dozen is going to fly similar.

Black Stick 11-18-2008 05:06 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

However, aluminum arrows bend more easily. I'd stay away from them unless I was going to Vegas.

Black Stick 11-18-2008 05:09 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

The Team realtrees are just as good as the camohunters. They are a little heavier though.

Black Stick 11-18-2008 05:21 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

Cheaper Arrows:
The Gold Tip XT Hunters cost $84.99 with 4" inch vanes. At that price, they are all black. If you want camo shafts, it will cost an extra $5-$10.
Better yet, the Beaman ICS Hunters, which are black only cost $79.99 with Blazers.

Both of these have the same consistencies as the more expensive camo versions (±.003 straigtness and ±2.0 grains). Personally, I prefer the non camo versions because they weigh less, which means a faster arrow.

how much faster do the non camo arrows go? (fps wise)
also what is the advantage to having camo shafts?

Black Stick 11-18-2008 08:42 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

There is no advantage to having camo shafts. I always use the blacks because they are cheaper, and faster. I cannot tell you exactly how much faster they will be, but I can promise you that they will be faster. I think the rule is 5grains = ±1ps. If you have 28" arrows, and are shooting 60#, you will need 400 spines on the Beman ICS Hunters and CamoHunters. The ICSCamo Hunters weigh 9.1 gpi or 254.8 grains for the shaft alone. The ICS Hunters weigh 8.4 gpi or 235.2 grains for the shaft alone. That is a difference of 19.6 grains or about 4 fps. So, not much faster, but still faster.

one more thing. should i get the 1.5 inch mini blazers or the 2 inch blazer vanes?

Black Stick 11-19-2008 03:02 PM

RE: new arrows? need help

2" gives you more stability, 1.5" weigh less, so you get more speed. You decide what you want.

mossbergman11/OH 11-19-2008 03:07 PM

well how much more speed do the 1.5 inchers give me?
