Default Fletching Position?

I use 2" blazers and have always only been able to fletch them about 2-3" down from the nock. I got an oldfletcher my dad had and can now fletch them about 1/2 inch down. Was wondering where you guys like to fletch your arrows at? Down the shaft a couple inches or as close to the knock as you can? Also theveins closer to the knock seem to make the arrow fly better from what I saw.

Default RE: Fletching Position?

I have never measured mine but I use a jo jan multi fletcher and the clamps have a notch in them and thats where I have always set my fletchings, I would guess it is around 1"+or-...I am not sure as to what is the better position but if yours fly better closer to the nock then you might have answered your own question. I am sure that there are some guys here that know the answer and I too am interested to see where this goes...

I go an inch from the end of the shaft with my blazers. Never had a problem.
