I need to know the big deal with mathews bow? i have a pse durango and looking to up date to a primos or nitro, but with all the big talk about mathews i was just looking for a very unbiased opinion. dealers that dont sell mathews talk like there average, dealers that do talk world class. Im sure there great bows but did they come out with some high tech stuff everyone else never thought of? or have they just spent a ton of cash on promotions (blowing smoke). shooters that have them talk as if there is nothing that comes close, or there just not really telling all. so before i drop the cash , whats the real story, what would you do?

If you are happy with your current PSE why change companies? The owner of the proshop I frequent is getting himself the new Primos STL. He sells Mathews, Hoyt, and PSE and he' s going with the PSE. While I was there a few weeks ago he put in an order for the new AR bows. Now many say they are nothing but a copy cat, and hey, that' s business, but the 34 I saw was one of the highest quality bows I have ever held. If you like your drango and I' m assuming it has the bullwhip cam, then I would suggest looking at the new AR' s. They' re cam is a redesigned bullwhip cam. Think I should let you know that I shoot a hoyt, just so people don' t think I' m being biased here. Plus, PSE in my opinion has one of the best customer service departments in the biz, and I speak that from experience.

As with just about any bow suggestion thread the best advice is usually for the individual shooter to go try the bows out for themselves. If you shoot it and think..." Hey, that is not really much better than what I am currently shooting." ...then do not second guess yourself because somebody else says they are the best.
If you are worried that they might have more quality components than something like PSE or Jennings.....then my answer would be " no" they do not. They have had some more innovative designs in the last decade than just about anyone else out there but I think the rest of the field has caught up with them now.

We all have our biases. Some of us appear to be even more biased than the manufacturer making the bow or the dealer selling them. Many tend to defend our buying decisions with the utmost fervor. Those who have chosen Mathews want to justify their decision, just as those who chose not to, have the same need to justify their choices.
Like PABowhntr said, try them and decide for yourself.

I understand the situation you are in. I just purchased a new Mathews Legacy.
I had shot the same Hoyt for the past 15 yrs and finally decided to purchase a new bow.
There are many quality bows on the market today and all have their positives. I went to my local pro shop and they sell PSE, High Country, and Mathews. He did not try to persuade me to any one bow. What he did do was let me shoot several different bows and make my own decision. The reason I chose Mathews was because of the way it felt and shot. It just felt comfortable in my hands. Also, I wanted to purchase the bow from a local dealer because of service, set-up, and future adjustments.
Dont let hype or marketing persuade you in your decision. Shoot several bows and when you find the right one you will know it.

Buckbuster4ou hit the nail on the head. If you plug your ears to the hype and just shoot them all one will really stand out.
Good-luck
P.S. Unplug your ears when you shoot the mathews so you can enjoy the quietness. I couldn' t resist that comment.

I like the way Mathews performs and I' m more than pleased with the performance of my Mathews. However, I am not of an eletist frame of mind.
If we all liked only one bow there would be only ONE manufactured. Since there are MANY manufactured I conclude that MANY of us like different bows.
WHAT' S SO WRONG WITH THAT?
If you like a Martin, Patriot, Hoyt hey that' s your choice and I am not going to demean your choice or what you chose. A very well respected friend swears by the PSE and he handles it very well and it shoots just as good. I cannot and will not make light of his choice or his bow.
Personally, I think the pride shared by most Mathews owners is well placed just as is that of the owners of Patriots, Martins, Hoyts, Fred Bear et al.
