Now fellas not trying to start a fight but... If you shoot open handed with no wrist strap and you kept a open hand after the shot then...Your bow would be on the ground. Right?

Hawgz I shot open handed without a strap for years and never dropped my bow, don't ask me how, but I didn't. It could be reflex causing me to "catch" the bow after the release, but it never caused me to pull/torque the bow when shooting. Maybe I am lucky or a freak, but I did it, I have a strap now and have yet to have the strap stop me from dropping the bow, but I have never dropped one.

With the older bows, like 15 years ago, most had deflex risers, more mass weight in the riser, longer and heavier limbs that reacted slower and high brace heights shooting heavier aluminum arrows. The whole thing from the time the release was made until the bow recoiled was a lot slower and gave you more time to react and catch the bow before it left your hand, but without disrupting arrow flight.
These wild little beasts they're making now.... Things happen so fast with these darn bows that they can be on the ground before the arrow hits the target if you shoot completely open handed and don't use a sling. I've unintentionally let a couple late model bows go bouncing downrange when I wasn't paying attention.
I liked the old stuff a lot better.

Thats what I was getting at I guess. You pretty well have to catch the bow if you shoot open hand without a wrist strap<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
