Extreme Draw Length
#1
I dont have this problem but have a 6'5" buddy who does. How does a guy with a 38" draw length find a bow. This # is foud by the finger tip method. I'm just curious because i have never had to deal with the problem being a staggering 5'8". How do you set up a bow and what length arrows seeing most arrowsare no longer than around 32"-33" on the shelf. Probably a simple answer but i can't put my brain around it. He has a interst in bow hunting and I'm not quite sure what to tell him.

How can he anchor with such long arms. I've just never seen anyone that tall shoot a bow. He tried mine when i adjusted the draw length mod to 31" and just wasn't comfortable for him. Bow arm was bent too much to get the string to his face. Maybe i am over thinking this?

I highly doubt he has a 38" draw lenght.
The biggest guy I know is ArthurP and his draw lenght is 32/33" and Art is a giant of a man.
The only way I can see eye to eye with Art is for me to stand and for him to be sitting.

I'm sorry iread my calculator wrong i went and refigured it and it is 30.8" not 38. Feel like an idiot. Well i guess i'll have to try to get him set up again. He really likes shooting but isn't sure if he wants to spend the money quite yet to get his own bow. I'm working on him. He's using my release and that probably explains why it doesnt fit him quite right. I'm a Moron!!!!! Knew there had to be a simple explination for thelong draw length. Please dont fault me for trying to recruit new archers. Just remind me to have them get there own equipment.

Only thing I can figure is somehow your measurement ormathgot fouled up. Normally, wingspan length will be within a couple inches of the person's height.Someone that's 6'5" would look freakish with arms that'd give a 38" draw. I mean, arms like that would go on someone that's over 7 1/2 feet tall!
I'm 6'6".I only managed to be asshort as I am (
)because of curvature of the spine. The doctors tell me I'd have been 6'10" if it hadn't been for that. My wingspan is 83" and my natural draw length - shooting fingers - is 33 1/2". I can use a bow with a draw as short as 31"by usinga release and an extra long string loop and leaving a bit more bend than usual in my bow arm. Have your friend back up against the wall. Have him extend his arms straight out to the sides and measure again, fingertip to fingertip. Take that measurment, subtract 16 inches and then divide that answerby 2. That should get very close to his actual draw length. If it still comes out to 38", I will immediately resign my post ashead honchoof the Ape Armed Knuckle Draggers Assn and appoint him in my stead.
edit: LOL! You posted whilst I was typing. I figured something was screwed up.

You can put me in the "knuckle dragging" category also. Being 5'8" i have a relaxed wingspan of 6'0" and6'1" if i stretch.I guess they forgot toput longer legs on me. I can't find a pair of coveralls to save my life and i wont go into the long sleeve shirt situation. Well thanks for the input andnext time i will double check my math.
