RE: Fiber Optic Colors

I have a 4 pin sight that goes:

green-20
red-30
green-40
red-50

The red pins are noticably darker. I think that blue pins would be very nice and bright....but i've never seen or heard of them. For now my greens and reds are working out just fine.

i had all green on my sight and it was fine.....but i just switched to a wrapped "lighted" sight i could see all pins even better then the original sight with all green....so i think it really is personal opinion.....

how far do you shoot? what are your typical conditions? early morning / late night? cloudy with little light? consider the factors then choose accordingly.

The reason I use green at 20 is that most of my shots are at or around 20yrds,my farthest shooting lane is 32yrds but the deer have to be off the path alot,in 24 yrs I cant really think of a time I shot over 26,well except for the one I thought was around 25 and was about 35 when I walked it offthat was before the range finder thingamajig wasaffordable....

Most people will see green and yellow better in low light and red will be the first to go. But there are some people who aremore sensitive than usual to some colors than others. So what ismost visible to me might not be best for you.

My eyes pick up green best. But I don't just use green becausea little color coding to help keep me from using the wrong pin. So, I've gotgreen for 20.Yellow for 30.Green again for 40. 50 and 60 are both red, because I lose red first in low light... and because I'm not going to use them for huntinganyway.

Red is the most difficult for me to use. Of course I'm an old codger and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. Green and yellow are definetly the brightest. Haven't tried blue.

I use a single pin green for hunting...shows very well in dim light and on cloudy days, but can cause a hallo effect in bright sun light.

I'm pretty much in agreement with most others. I prefer Green, after that Yellow, and last for me would be Red:D
