You could take a 2215 shaft at 10.7 grains per inch, epoxy a 2016 shaft at 10.6 grains per inchinside it, cutting the 2016 short enough to allow gluing a 2215 insert in the main shaft, of course. Then use a 200 grain broadhead. If you make the arrow at least 28" long, with the fletching, nock and insert, you should be able to meet or beat 800 grains.
Don't have a clue how you could make 800 grains with a carbon arrow though.

Alaska bowhunting Supply carries Grizzlystix Safari shafts that weigh 16gr/inch.A 30" shaft would weigh in at 480gr.With a 125gr broadhead you're at 605.Add a 5gr/inch weight tube, fletching, nock, insert and that would put you very close to 800gr(if not over)

Ya know, even though bad mouthing them is the thing to do these days, aluminum arrows really won't give you cooties.[8D]
I'd forgotten about the Grizzlystix. From the Alaska Bowhunting site: "BIG FIVE AND DANGEROUS GAME HUNTERS: By adding internal point weights and stronger and heavier broadheads, i.e. Silver Flames, a 900+ grains arrow with 25% FOC can be achieved."
Good call, Jim. Might be what he needs.

I have never but friends have. One just returned and I believe he took a nice cape on this trip. He's taken several animals with a bow. Brother just returned. He didn't bow hunt but knows what needs to be done. They use carbons. If I get a chance I'll ask him about it. If you've never been there, beware of trouble in all forms.
My brother just took a nice bull elephant. It was a fifty pounder when he left. Got a call yesterday thatit was a 52 pounder.2 pounds over means an extra$2500. He's not complaining and was told up front that if hehad a problem with the extra cost the guide wouldmake sure he was under50. That wasabout the only thing that wasclearly stated. The outfit tried to tell him after he took the elephant that weather or not he shot the remaining game he'd been lined up for he'd still have to pay. B.S. he said, turn around now. They decided he was right and did get to shot the others although a cape got away intoland off limits. He still payed for it. You will too if you don'trecover it. Make sure of your shot. They have all kinds of problems there.Getting through the airports a real adventure in it's self.
