Choosing an Arrow
#1
I also posted this in the Gear Review section - but I thought that this might be the place to get my answer.
Okay - I am buying new arrows this year and I am at a loss to know which way to go, some people say to get the aluminum/carbon hybrids, some say slim carbons and others say thick carbons. People are talking about FOC (of which I am clueless as to what this means).
To sum it all up I am willing to spend the money (within reason - around $120) so would some one please point me in the right direction!!!!
Here is my setup:
2006 Hoyt PowerTec
28.5 in draw
70lbs draw
Using Muzzy 3 blades (100 grain)
Thanks

Your options are almost endless and you can get as many opinions as people you talk to. Mine tend toward heavier hunting weight arrows with lots of weight on the front, that are meticulously spine tuned. I'm partial to carbons, because they allow you to put a higher percentage of weight up front. You need a spine in the .340 range or stiffer. Adding the tip weight you desire and tuning the arrow lenth and the draw weight to match the dynamic spine will allow you to create a great shooting arrow no matter what your choice.
