Default Non Chrono Speed Calc

Hi guys, was looking for a way to roughly check my arrow speed. as i dont have access to a chrono i was looking at other methods. the one below seems to be resonable enough. just wondering if anyone with a chrono (or knows the exact speed of their arrows) has tried it, just to verify the results im getting

cheers all

Code:
Arrow Speed Chart

Shoot two or three arrows at 20 yards. Step back and shoot two or three from 40 yards using your 20 yard pin. Measure the distance between the groups.

 29" - 220fps
 24" - 240fps
 20" - 265fps
 18" - 275fps
 15" - 305fps
 14" - 315fps
 13" - 325fps

Never tried it but it seems like it makes sense.

I tried this chart one time. Sorry to say it doesn't hold water. My bow was sighted for 20 yards. When I shot at 40 yards my groups were very tight and averaged 16" low using the 20 yard pin. Doing some rough math this equates to just about 300fps using this chart.

Sad to say, but three different chrono's said 264fps which I know to be correct.

I'd say way too many variables like arrow type, length, tip, fletching, diameter, spine, etc.

Maybe it's correct with really heavy aluminum arrows.
