I heard today that in the year 2003 that W/C will not be on the BowTech lineup anymore.Has anyone else heard this?

Some of the 03 line up will have the WC strings and some will have the BT made strings.

Now I dont know if the new BT strings are going to be as good as the WC strings but time will tell.

From what I have heard tho the new strings will be on par with WC strings.

It might be helpful if Pat were to come on and explain exactly what Bowtech is doing with their strings this year.

I am actually a little confused myself. My interpretation of it was that all of the bows from prior years that did not have Winners Choice strings on them from their lineup will now be using strings made by Bowtech via a new manufacturing process that is somewhat similar to what Winners Choice uses, at least in terms of the end result.

Is this correct Pat or is it in some other way?

GEEZZz guys, buy the bow for the reasons you have and whine about the strings if you feel the need later! Hoyt,Mathews,Datron, Merlin,Martin, ETC... doesen't come with them so don't worry about it! The O2 strings are supposed to perform as well as WC, BowTech says they will so we'll just have to wait and see. This topic is a very dead horse!

I've decided not to reply to this in any great detail and I've asked moderators to lock this thread.

It's been turned into a serious argument on another message board system where I've have been personally attacked by persons that don't even know me and I don't want the same on here.

To dispell any rumors and such please call both parties and get the information from each manufacturer.

I will say this...BowTech is not making any strings in house.

The O2 strings being marketed in the 2003 brochure includes any bows, even the ones with Winner's Choice strings on them. All strings are being marketed as O2 strings no matter who builds them.

I think Bowtech is just being smart, and figuring out that all of the hype with strings and who makes them is just that. There is no doubt the WC makes excellent strings, but so do Tailor-maid for instance, and a few other "known" companies, and there are many more guys that know the ins and outs of string building out there that are not so instantly recognizedthat can build 'em superbly also.

Look at it from a manmufacturers' perspective--- say you buy WC strings at a "wholesale" manufacturers' cost of lets say(roughly) $60 per set(based upon retail at roughly $100) and multiply that times say 10,000 bows. That's $600,000.00 just for strings/cables. Now, install mass-produced typical "factory" strings/cables of the same material, but built by a general string builder who deals in bulk with manufacturers, and you probably can get them for around $20 per set at manufacturers' wholesale pricing.(black with no twists or colors) Multiply that times the same 10,000 bows. That's $200,000.00. Is it worth it for Bowtech (or any other manufacturer) to spend $400,000.00 extra per year just so they can say they have WC strings/cables on their bows? How many more people will buy that particular bow just because it has WC strings on it instead of stock "factory" strings? Not $400,000.00 worth of them, I can assure you that, they will buy the bow if they truly want it anyway, and the only way any manufacturer can re-coup any of this money would be to put at least a $60 higher price tag on the product,(or $70 if they want to turn a profit from them) which in turn then puts it out of reach financially for a certain percentage of customers. This is all figured out by analysts, and then the most cost-effective way of promoting the products come from that, no different than any other manufacturer. Remember, this is big business for the manufacturers and decisions such as this saving of over a 1/4-million dollars can be the difference between a company floating or sinking. I would've done the same thing if I were them. In fact, I would've never started it at all, but that's just me.

Bowtech is just utilizing the best means to get the most out of their dollar, same as everyone else in the industry. If the consumer wants to purchase the WC strings after they buy the bow, then that is their individual choice. Nothing to be whining about, you are either going to pay extra for the bow at purchase to have them on it,(and still will have to replace them after a year or so) or simply buy them yourself after the first set wears out and save $60 or so on the initial cost of the bow. I think more people are apt to take a $60-70 savings initially, $599 sounds alot better than $669 if you ask me. I'll replace my strings/cables a couple of times with that same $60-70 later on down the road, thanks. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Just my own thoughts, Pinwheel 12

I agree with pretty much everything Pinwheel said. However, I don't recall seeing a $40 drop in MSRP for the 2003 models due to this.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> But I don't really care. I'm still gonna get my DC Patriot, and I know I'm gonna love it.

Out of the three posts the proceeded yours, one of which was mine, I did not see anyone whining about Bowtech's strings.

I saw a legitimate question about Bowtech's 2003 lineup and some folks that had some of the answers but couldn't verify them.

Ausie-guy, I do not blame Pat one bit. I read the ramblings of the other message board and it was ridiculous. I applaud Pat for his patience and professionalism. It took alot of guts for Pat to bite his lip over this freakin jag off on this other board.
